Rocking the Noel Gallagher Riviera Though a Headrush AC30 on Made For More in B (EG remix)

2024-06-23 For other tone junkies, I'm using my "edge of breakup" rig on this one. I'm starting on the neck pickup and then about the 2:08 mark I switch to the bridge pickup. I'm not engaging any drive pedals. This is just amp tone form the Headrush with the pickups and picking technique governing the amount of overdrive.
I have the Riviera setup with the neck pickup set all the way down into the body of the guitar, then I raised a couple of pole pieces to balance out the individual string volume. I set the bridge pickup high up, closer to the strings, so that it brings a little more volume/drive. Otherwise the fat neck pup overpowers the bridge. The neck pup is so full, that it made the bridge sound weak and puny. But in this configuration, the neck is just a touch quieter with less drive and the bridge is louder and more aggressive.
Other guitars I own are set with the pickups more similar in height to each other, but this Epiphone really needed the extreme variation. Before you change out pickups in your guitar, experiment with changing pup height and pole piece height. You might get what you need with adjustment instead of needing to buy new pickups.
