Seldom do guns belonging to U.S. presidents come to auction, and scarcer still are those belonging to men as historically significant and captivating as Theodore Roosevelt.
This superb, factory engraved Smith & Wesson is a rarity in its own right, but its iron clad provenance to Roosevelt sets it in a whole new stratosphere. It was shipped the very same day that TR left the East Coast en route to San Antonio to take his place with the famed Rough Riders.
This Smith & Wesson No. 3 New Model revolver is a national treasure, and has the condition, embellishment, history, and rarity every bit befitting such a piece. It's now ready to take its place as the cornerstone in a new collection.

@@todddudacoff1042 I agree. ALL politicians have an agenda which usually does not include the welfare of the people. I do think that TR was one of the guys who believed in no nonsense and that he believed that the USA was the greatest nation in the world, as do I. In my 70 years 14 presidents have been in office. I served in the USMC under 4 of them.

Cool, didn't know that Teddy had a S&W (and a top break New Model No. 3 chambered in .38 Long Colt? Cool!), especially when the revolver most associated with him is the Colt SAA, as shown in the 1997 miniseries Rough Riders and a special edition Colt 1873 made by Uberti named "Teddy".

It has been determined that the explosion of the Maine was an accident, not the result of any action by the Spaniards. But very convenient for us Americans in 1898. Roosevelt was a great man but had the usual flaws of US colonialism of the time. He was certainly a champion of National Parks. I have visited his Sagamore Hill estate several times, not to be missed if you are on Long Island.

nicely worked piece, probably engraved afterwards, but the grip is too small compared to the size of the revolver In American circles, it is certainly worth a lot, in European eyes it is a few thousand €

Small grip much nicer as a carry peace. Not so much target shoothing
@1982asd
@1982asd Жыл бұрын
@@454FatJack The balance of the weapon is therefore not good, if the grip is thin and the barrel is long or the revolver itself is heavy or the caliber is large, then the small grip is very disadvantageous Of course, this is an old revolver, the standards were different then, but it is not suitable from a military point of view

Perilously close european influence...thats pretty funny. As Spain wasn't just on the decline and had been for 200 years but was in fact almost extinct as a power. Barely rated a 2nd rate European power and filled with turmoil and revolutionary fervour. The ease with which the US beat Spain shows how far they fell from their days as a real power just less than 100 years before. Nevertheless, the thorn had to be removed !

The Cuban interference by the United States 🇺🇸 in Cuba was not needed, the Cuban Macheteros already had pushed the Spanish Army into the Havana area and they were ready to to take it. Same time the Filipinos were wanting the American expeditionary forces out of the Philippines. In Cuba we have a different view.
