Some musings Iris is such a fantastic character. She's incredibly kind, but behind her demurre exterior, she has very different beliefs than Zero. Notice how she's more concerned with preventing Zero from fighting her brother than the other way around? She might not say it until her dying breaths, but she agrees with Repliforce. She doesn't think Reploid independence will _work_ but she doesn't see any need for Zero to stop Colonel, which makes Zero's insistence on his duty increasingly frustrating for her. When push comes to shove, her loyalties lie with her brother, and she's willing to kill Zero for it. And as for Zero's duty, well, yeah. The Maverick Hunters are the aggressors here. General's speech wasn't a declaration of war. It was a declaration of "we're going independent and if you hit us, we'll hit back", to which the Maverick Hunters said "Oh my God, you're literally Sigma, we have to murder all of you." X and Zero are on the wrong side. Split Mushroom's pre-fight battle cry is literally "Let's play good guys and bad guys! You'll be the bad guys!" The batshit insane child mushroom man is more aware of the situation than the Maverick Hunters. And Zero's adherence to "his duty" and "justice" gets Colonel and Iris killed. And then there's Sigma. This is my absolute favourite appearance from Sigma. I'm 95% certain he orchestrated this whole thing just to try and get Zero to fight Colonel and boy is he happy about it. He's content to let Double murder X even after all the times X has gotten in his way. Zero is the real target, and Sigma's goal is to try and show Zero who he really is. He can talk about duty and justice and "someone has to stop Repliforce" all he likes, but Sigma knows the truth. Zero is a killing machine. He saw it that day in the warehouse and he knows that monster is still a part of Zero. Crashing Final Weapon into the Earth is just a nice bonus for Sigma. His real goal was to convince Zero that he has no business being a Maverick Hunter. And to a certain degree, Sigma is _right._ Zero's big character-defining moment at the end of Zero 4 is him admitting that he doesn't fight for justice and he's not a hero. He IS a killing machine, but he's a killing machine who loves the people around him, will gladly help others when asked, and will do ANYTHING to keep the people close to him safe. If Zero series Zero was sent back to the time of X4, he'd probably defect to Repliforce and convince X to either do the same or stay out of it so that he could keep Colonel and Iris safe. Zero failed in X4. He failed because he didn't know what he was fighting for, and so he ended up killing what he was fighting for. And uh, X. X is here, maybe. I don't know how canon X's story actually is? Double exists and he tried to kill X, but that's all we can really say. X4 is Zero's story. X is here presumably because Inafune couldn't convince Capcom to make a Zero series yet./j

X is kind & that kindhearted nature of his gets his men killed when he trusts Double at face value. It wasn't something he could help, but it did all serve to build up his animosity, which was most likely meant to boil over in a more explosive manner in the Zero series before Copy X became the villainous aspect of X. Tragedy after tragedy builds up & ultimately makes him numb to killing what are essentially his own children over the course of decades, possibly centuries, and having his trust shattered time after time doesn't help either.

Even if Sigma was right - it doesn't mean his actions were justified - the very reason Sigma turned evil is due to the Zero virus. Also if you didn't know - the Zero virus actually works in reverse where it turns the good into evil and evil into good. This is why after Sigma punched the Blue Crystal on his forehead is the moment the Virus was unleashed - causing Zero to stabilise while Sigma going maverick / Irregular. His thought process started with X after disabling Zero. Even if his analogy about them is correct - it was Sigma who orchestrated it all to gaslight X & Zero's beliefs into disarray and make them doubt their actions as he was especially afraid of X potential which will change the very essence of the reploids which in return caused him to get jealous and the virus shifted his original programming by rather than protecting humans - he choose destruction. In the end - Zero & X are reploids - not all kinds of human logic abide well in their cores which is why Dr.light had to put X in deep sleep to execute the last phase of logic process by the machine which is connected or within the capsule to make the necessary last checks in X programming to be prepared for the world, and maybe same thing happened to Zero when he woke up in an unstable condition. Ironically It is thanks to Sigma that Zero turned good and served the opposite of his purpose (to destroy X) to protect the earth from mavricks even if it meant getting his hands dirty. Now back to X - he is supposed to be diplomatic while Zero is like the necessary Evil for a greater good - which is the way it seems from the game perspective - since Zero only kills when necessary (like a soldier following orders) while X is a negotiator, they're like opposite sides of the same coin.

Replayed the game lately and starting to think Iris was kinda a hypocrite. Yes I know she hated violence but she kept asking Zero to not fight Colonel who had been hurting others, while did absolutely nothing to stop her brother; when Zero did what he had to do, she gone mad and tries to hurt him. Iris and Colonel were built to be like X as one Reploid, but their personalities contradicted each other, so they had to be spliited up. Iris has X's kindness while Colonel has X's warrior like mindset. X series has plenty of plotholes and doesn't treat the female cast exactly well. Zero was supposed to be death in X1, but got revived. Not only one but twice. X5 was to be the end of X series, but Capcom dragged on.

curious if anyone else noticed... but at around 22:36, where Zero comes this close to ripping Sigma's head off, you can kind of notice that the japanese actors inject a bit more life into the voices than what's animated. for instance, you listen to Ryotaro's Zero laughing, and he sounds absolutely giddy despite not lining up with what's on screen... but you listen to Wayne Doster's Zero laughing, he sounds like a stock maniacal laugh exactly how the animation shows onscreen. another example is when Wily's virus infects Zero... in the dub, you don't hear Zero reacting to it until he appears onscreen, whereas in Japanese he immediately starts screaming at the next cut. it kinda gives Sigma two different reactions when he turns around... in the dub, it's cause Zero let go of his grip on him; in japanese, Zero suddenly starts screaming when he was laughing just a moment ago.

Not really, he was not being infected. That W on his head was meant to neutralize Zero if he went berserk, like during his fight with Sigma. Wily had built that because it happened before while testing him. But you are right that the forehead capsule had the Maverick Virus in it, because Wily probably envisioned it to eradicate Mega Man if Zero was defeated during combat. And you know, then Sigma triggered it and started the X series.

People say that Zero killing the cast doesn't make sense, yet they don't explain why it doesn't make sense. Just that it doesn't. xD Folks had mentioned that Wily died before he released Zero, but it makes me wonder why does Zero have dreams of Wily ordering Zero to kill his rival? Also robots live for a long time. I know they have a certain expiration, but you'd think there would be someone around Light when he was making X and Light specifically said he had no one to carry out his work or task. I haven't really heard Keiji offer anything that made more sense anyway. And of course, Light made X for a reason. Obviously it wasn't to combat Wily. Wily at this point was no longer a threat, and likely died from Zero, due to his instability. If Wily WAS around and still a threat, why would Light make a robot like X and then seal him away in a capsule? Doesn't make any sense for him to do that. I would think that Zero was too powerful for the main cast and killed them all, but Mega Man sacrifices himself to stop Zero. It only was strong enough to put him in stasis mode, where he's found way later by reploids and then reactivated, therefore causing Sigma and his team to go after him. In the OVA, nobody was even around Light when he was making X. Doesn't anyone find that strange? Mega Man, Roll, Beat, Rush, ect are all mysteriously gone while Light is working on his magnum opus. Light devoted all his time to make someone like X. He wanted someone who was sentient, but if Mega Man and the other robots WERE around, why not just upgrade them? X was never an upgraded robot, as it was shown that he was being built from scratch. The other robots were gone and it doesn't make sense for them to expire all around at the same time. Obviously something serious happened to them.

In the first game, it tells you why X wasn't activated sooner. Which is why Light was smart enough not to upgrade his other creations. But also if you think about how nobody witnessed the creation of X, remember Wily can simply just read everything Lights bots know if he ever botnaps them for some reason. Think back to Megaman 9 and that piece of evidence rock got from the final robot master, if they can do it so can wily. Light had no ulterior motives making X, he simply wanted to make robots more sentient than their current predecessor which have a limited range of thinking. As for wily, I think he just died from age spending the rest of his time making what is the equivalent of cyberlogical warfare. Hence why he probably wasn't terrorizing the world. Zero is the original carrier of the Sigma Virus. He could of just made Zero as proof he can make something outstanding, a test of skill you could say. Or he just exists to simply walk around and spread the virus like some asymtomatic. For the rest, Idk. This is just my speculation. Reploid REVO goes into more detail about this topic if I remember. Remember, this is just what I think

Zero did get activated before his activation in X era, but the cognitive error happened and he was sealed away. That flashback is when he meets Wily before he sealed him away due to the cognitive error. There's no implication that Light has someone else to make X with and it's not impossible for him to create X alone given how he's a genius scientist. No, official stated that Wily died of illness. If he killed almost everyone, who put him in the capsule? With his spec, I doubt Mega Man would be able to even force him in a capsule without any sign of forceful struggle. You said it yourself that robots has expiration date. That was confirmed in Mega Man 9 and I don't see reason why Light's robots have special treatment. Sure, it's still a mystery, but you can't denied that official was cleared that Zero haven't kill anyone before X era.

I think some y'all may not get the point. Iris is not a "good guy" her dreams conflict with our protagonists. But that's what makes this sad, and a lot of people attached to her, there is still a love story going on even if Zero and Iris fight for different causes, meaning its an unreachable happy ending, even if one dies or not. Unless one of them accepts others beliefs its impossible love, meaning an actual tragedy. Idk much about megaman or X4 but I loved this scenes

@@uribe_ramon Really??? I've played them all and none mention ロックマン once in the dialogue. It's always Ekkusu. As for why change Rockman to Megaman, blame translation from either the American or Japanese side. Seriously, it's not always pragmatic localizers going too far (or rather almost never but I digress).
