My mom was Mary Margaret. This song has been 'the song' to the one who became my bestfriend when I was 13 and she was 10. 50 years later, she has a loving husband, 5 kids and 15 grandkids. Me.... My job transferred me all over the country and now retired I live outside the US. This song is special to me, but Nanci Griffith's music is also very special to me. Rest in the loving arms of God, Ms. Griffith.

I so love this song! I wouldn’t even call her a country artist. She’s just an amazing artist. She’s one of my favorite artists of all time.

This song is a true story. Mary Margaret was Nanci's actual best friend and John was Nanci's boyfriend who died in a motorcycle accident after the senior prom.

Listening to Nanci's songs always makes me feel like I'm looking through someone's photo album. It's real...not a romanticized semblance or sterile facsimile...but actual life, in all it's mundane glory! Raised in Austin and even attended the Univ. of Texas 🤘, Ms. Griffith was the real deal. She will certainly be missed by millions...both inside and outside of the Texas state line.

Nanci has been held very highly by a few artists here in ireland because she helped them and guided them when they started out. In all she had a voice that was so recognisable. another I called ONE of a Kind, She will always be missed But her music and legacy lives on RIP.

Nanci wrote the song “Outbound Plane” that Suzy Bogguss had a hit with in the early ‘90s”. I always liked Nanci’s singing voice and style of folk music. R.I.P. Nanci!

Nancy was a great singer/songwriter. I loved her song "Ford Econoline". I don't think Country radio gave Nancy the air time she deserved. She has an amazing voice.

I went down the path of more Western and folk style music so I haven’t been watching as much, but I’m glad to see you’re still going strong and enjoying yourself on these!

For the second time in a couple weeks you have introduced someone new to me. I'm ashamed that I've never heard her before. She reminds me of Suzy Bogess. Fly high Ms. Nanci

Nancy wrote Suzy’s biggest (?) hit “Outbound Plane”. I like Suzys version but be sure and listen to Nancy’s version along with her “Love At The 5 & Dime” (Kathy Mattea’s Hit) & My favorite “Gulf Coast Highway “

Thanks for this Don. I didn’t consider myself a “huge” NG fan although I’ve been listening to her since the 80’s. Whether or not you do a react or not, give a listen to this performance of “Gulf Coast Highway “ with James Hooker. (In addition to his work with her James was a founding member of The Amazing Rhythm Aces) Incredible voice, incredible smile, must have been an incredible person. The song I know best by her is Once In A Very Blue Moon. Also I like Across The Great Divide which is really a Kate Wolf song. You should do something by Kate Wolf. Here In California. The Trumpet Vine. One By One is really good (written by Woody Guthrie.)

Is Mary Margaret her sister? Is this a make-up for "Drive in Movies & Dashboard Lights"?
