By the way, let me know what you think of my inclusion of sound bites at the beginning of each spot on the list (when it displays the number). I thought I'd try it out here, Schaffrillas does this in his ranking videos and its great, but I don't want to be accused of copying him. However the sound bites add so much charm to each entry on the list before the main commentary comes in, and I wanted to do that here. So let me know if I should keep doing that in my future ranking videos or not.

I dont mean to be disrespectful, but some of your critiques come across as though you don't understand the Muppets or the time it was made in. "Kermit is too mean" Kermit was a pretty big grouch in the original Muppet Show. He fatshamed Piggy, called his costars idiots, etc. He was the stressed-out producer archetype. And a lot of the "pointless scenes" that seem useless to the plot are bits. The Muppets borrows heavily from Vaudeville, so their movies have an overall plot but its filled with guest stars and random gags. That's the format. Its like a Mel Brooks movie; not everything has to be this tight, relevant plot-important beat.

Everything you said about The Muppets 2011 is so accurate to how I feel about it. Since I saw it, Walter has been my favorite Muppets character; his passion for the Muppets really drives this movie for me. You can tell how deeply he cherishes the Muppets for what they are, how much meaning and happiness he gained from them. He is so willing to help them see that, he actually has to learn to step out of his own comfort zone. To me, that’s such a powerful arc for a protagonist to have. And boy are the songs BANGERS! They’re emotionally resonating, wholesome, hilarious, catchy, and nothing short of joyful ☺️ I’m so glad to live in a day and age where The Muppets got a film that paid such a beautiful homage to their history, as well as to the heart and soul of the man who created them ❤️

Also I highly recommend Little Shop of Horrors (1986) also directed by Oz- the direction in that film is so expressive and stylish, especially during the musical sequences (seek out the directors cut if you can). I'm honestly amazed at how much better Muppet Christmas Carol gets every year. It somehow manages to capture the spirit of the book while at the same time being true to the Muppet humor without it overtaking the messages and meanings of Dickens' story. And every Muppet is just cast so perfectly in their roles. Ironically enough whenever I think of Bob Crachitt, I just think of Kermit because he's just the perfect embodiment of what made the character so endearing. Same with Michael Caine's performance as the boss man himself. Whenever I reread the book, I just naturally hear his voice. And no, this is not coming from a nostalgia point of view as I only saw the film for the first time three years ago. I just think it's a tremendous movie that critics and audiences slept on when it was released. It is a beautiful love letter to Brian Henson's father and to the story Dickens wrote.

Muppets Most Wanted… aaah~ The history my family has with this movie. We bought it one DVD and loved it ever since. It’s actually become a part of our normal lives know, with my dad constantly quoting the interrogation song. Plus the plot was genius, and it had Ricky Gervais in it. And… finally… Muppets Christmas Carol. The greatest way to experience A Christmas Carol in movie form. And also a wonderful adaptation that doesn’t dampen, but instead adds to the meaningful message of a legendary novella. Our family has a tradition where we watch it every Christmas Eve, due to Kermit’s song After All There’s Only One More Sleep Til Christmas. Micheal Caine is a legendary actor who plays Scrooge perfectly, and there is never a dull moment throughout the movie, and the songs never fail to bring me to the brink of tears. I have seen the list now and the main thing I can say is thank you for being up the extended (and true) cut of Muppets Christmas Carol. When Love is Gone is such an exception song (which is incredibly emotional and it even strengthens Scrooge as a character) and the movie just isn’t the same with its absence from the theatrical cut. I believe the reason why it was cut was because of Jeffrey Katzenburg being Jeffrey Katzenburg since he was a major Disney figure head when the movie was releasing. Heck, before the full cut finally made its way onto Disney+, I found myself tracking down a LaserDisc copy of the movie just so I could own a copy of the full cut. If you are a fan of Muppets Christmas Carol and you haven’t seen the full cut, do yourself a favour and watch it. It is finally easily accessible now on Disney+ and once you experience it, you will probably never be able to go back to the theatrical cut. It takes an already excellent movie and elevates it significantly.

With the definite limits of exposure to the franchise in mind, I am in complete agreement with your choice for number one. It was great! After watching your video, I am eager to see some of the others. Thank you! Some of the earlier productions from the 70s (although not movies) have been a real blast to revisit. I adore Emmet Otter’s Jug-Band Christmas. The Muppet Musicians of Bremen is so bizarre - It has always been a guilty pleasure. Check this one out if you haven’t already.

"WE COME TO THIS PLACE FOR MAGIC. WE COME TO AMC THEATERS TO LAUGH, TO CRY, TO CARE. BECAUSE WE NEED THAT, ALL OF US. THAT INDESCRIBABLE FEELING WE GET WHEN THE LIGHTS BEGIN TO DIM AND WE GO SOMEWHERE WE’VE NEVER BEEN BEFORE. NOT JUST ENTERTAINED, BUT SOMEHOW REBORN TOGETHER. DAZZLING IMAGES ON A HUGE SILVER SCREEN. SOUND THAT I CAN FEEL. SOMEHOW, HEARTBREAK FEELS GOOD IN A PLACE LIKE THIS. OUR HEROES FEEL LIKE THE BEST PARTS OF US, AND STORIES FEEL PERFECT AND POWERFUL… BECAUSE HERE… THEY ARE. I think the Muppets (2011) is better than Muppets: Most Wanted

Most Wanted slaps and I’m so happy to see it at the top (It’s not my 1 favorite but it’s pretty high up there for me. Won’t say what my favorite one is cause I’ve been working on a Muppet movie ranking too)

You forgot about Muppet family Christmas, which is one of my favorites. I think I would place it after Muppet treasure Island.

Oh, I wouldn’t give up on Frank Oz’s directing chops so quickly - if you haven’t already seen it, give the film version of Little Shop of Horrors a watch! It’s a fantastic film adaptation of a stage musical, and the Audrey II puppet(s) is an absolutely phenomenal piece of puppetry and film-making. :D Also, no Muppet Family Christmas? It’s longer than 42 minutes, so wouldn’t it meet the criteria?
@Rockotarthepurplehatguy5 ай бұрын
I forgot about the Muppet family Christmas whoops. And as I said, I wasn't sure about his direct based "just on Muppets Take Manhattan" as in I'm willing to give him the benefit of the doubt and assume this might have been one of his weaker directed movies.
@JayietheRiverWarrior5 ай бұрын
@@Rockotarthepurplehatguy No worries! :D I haven’t seen a ton of the Muppet movies, but my parents and I watch Muppet Family Christmas every year (alongside Muppet Christmas Carol of course). It’s always been a favorite for how sweet it is. Also fair! Directors can definitely have good and bad projects.

So refreshing seeing such appreciation for the 2010s Muppet theatrical films! I'm curious- which version of Muppets Most Wanted do you prefer? The theatrical or the extended edition?
@Rockotarthepurplehatguy5 ай бұрын
I haven't actually seen the extended version yet, but I own the disc and I think I put a couple clips from that version in the footage of this video. I'm sure both are equally great, but I am a sucker for extended editions.
@Fallingwithstyle19955 ай бұрын
@@Rockotarthepurplehatguy Definitely check out the extended edition! I think it's the definitive version of the film, not just for the added gags, but mainly thanks to having the full versions of songs from the soundtrack like Interrogation Song and We're Doing a Sequel!

All I’ll say is that Most Wanted is so funny that my friend who’s ancestors died in a Siberian Gulag found it hilarious

On Frank Oz's directing style, you honestly won't ruffle many feathers on criticizing it for Take Manhattan. Oz himself didn't ultimately love how he handled the project or how it turned out, largely chocking it up to him not having directed a movie on his own before, at the time. Even Jim Henson had his patience tested a few times by the film's creation, and especially Oz's nitpicks. That said, Oz has since proven to be a pretty good director, since his resume includes the underrated 1991 screwball comedy What About Bob?, and the 1986 film adaptation of the Little Shop of Horrors musical. If you haven't seen either of those, definitiely do, if you're fond of screwball comedies and camp musicals, respectively.

The original 1979 Muppet Movie is an absolute masterpiece. The characters are all used perfectly, the jokes are hilarious, the cameos are flawless, Doc Hopper is both a fun and threatening villain and the songs are all iconic. The Muppet Movie is both my comfort movie and favorite Muppet film.

I agree with you on muppets from space in fact in my opinion it’s my favorite and I don’t get why people hate it EDIT: my favorite moment in it in my opinion was miss piggy’s response to the door in a jar which was “ perfect somebody knock and see if Barbie’s home”

First of all, i'm not even mad, second of all i am not a witch, third of all, first rule of double-crossing. You don't announce the double-cross before you make the double cross! It's not even a rule, because it is so obvious. Tag! (mortally crashes Phil staining the whole wall)"

I remember seeing Its A Very Merry Muppet Christmas Movie when I was a kid having never seen Jim Carrey’s Grinch. Needless to say seeing a group of freaky looking tiny nosed people showing up to yell at Fozzie with no context as to why they looked like that, kinda freaked me out as a kid
