I remember when I first started watching you...the beginning of rookie. It was all about the pretties. It wasn't about what is this, does it have dendrites or manganese...it was just about the love. How did it become what is significant to other people before you put it in the bag??? Rookie, take what you feel, not bc it's important to other people, but bc it sparks that flame the puts you in the river to begin with. Sorry for what may seem like a negative comment, but I feel people are getting lost trying to impress instead of feeling the love and the emotions that come with finding something that speaks to your heart instead of impressing others.

No no, I hear you, and I really do appreciate what you said too. I think as I move along learning more I’ve found a joy in that learning so when I get the opportunity to fossick with others who really know the area, it’s the perfect learning environment for my brain type. So I just ask all the questions, even ones others would consider stupid. But I haven’t lost that wonder for pretty and interesting “stuff”. It’s just that now I have an even bigger curiosity loop from seeing the pretty’s to wondering about the pretty’s and then trying to find out what the pretty’s are. But there’s rocks there I would have usually taken. I just had to think about the cost of putting them in my luggage and I knew there would be at minimum, another 4 to 5 hunts left in the trip. It was a weird situation being forced to be selective haha. Not my strongest suit to be honest. But again, I do appreciate you mentioning that mate. It means you care about the authenticity of “rookie” as much as I do. Cheers brother

Oh, wow, Jesse, this is so great! I was blessed to be able to get out for a hunt with you while you were here. :) Great video - as always - I could just feel your excitement as I watched, and it made me smile all over again. :) Oh, no, I used two smiley faces in my post - better end with another one! 😁

I think your 'water spray' bottle is better because it has a lid and you can fill it up with river water...🤭 just have to keep it propped up so water doesn't leak 🤣...and, harder to clog 'cuz it doesn't have water line, nozzle, etc 🤣 and can tie a few backups to your pack just in case 😂...I'm going rock hounding next Spring, just wish it was near the Yellowstone River 😁
@sueerickson4849Ай бұрын
Lol. Had to laugh at your water bottle. You did good! I get my agates from Lake Superior. They are a lot different from Montana agates.

😂😂😂 Jess, the look on Theo’s face when you said you can take a bath in it, ie WT# are you talking about. 😂😂😂 I take it you meant the bath salts with magnesium, 😂😂, sorry mate that cracked me up & Jenny just looked at me with the same expression. Great video Jess, some of those pieces are rippers, those stromatalites are just amazing. Really enjoyed the video. Keep Safe.
@Rookie_RockoundingАй бұрын
Hahaha yeah… that was a common occurrence during the whole trip. Theo would be sprouting off rock and fossil wisdom left right and centre and I’d chime in with something that really had very little informational value… 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
@silverback5033Ай бұрын
@ 😂😂😂 - it is quite interesting when you go to somewhere different and have others advising you what to look for. It appears that the material on the Yellowstone looks quite different to the rocks in our creeks & rivers. Takes a while to get your eye in especially when there a so many different types of rock in the one area.

This is the first video from you on Yellowstone with best rockhounds in Montana. And I enjoyed it so much. Thank you for sure in your time here in America!
