Rockstar Is Nerfing Cayo Perico And Removing KDR In Freemoode- GTA Online Reaction And Thoughts

Me reacting to the new Rockstar Newswire post that Rockstar is nerfing the Cayo Perico heist being able to do it solo every 2 and half hours and reducing the target value retrying it. There are some good things like the Oppressor Mark 2 nerf and the KDR changes but then the Cayo changes upset that.

For people that tell me I am ungrateful. I defended the update yesterday and I still think it will be a good one. I think all the businesses need new activities. However the Cayo decision is bad. The solution is not to nerf Cayo but to increase payouts on everything else. I don't hate Rockstar but they aren't my favorite developer anymore. I still enjoy their games but after GTA San Andreas Definitive Edition , GTA Plus and abandoning and ignoring the Red Dead Online community my respect for them has fallen to an all time low. If any Rockstar dev reads this. If you truly believe its about encouraging Coop play just increase the payouts for coop heists but keep the Solo Cayo pay the same and the cooldown. Make it so that different approaches give you different bonuses at times. That will increase the diversity in approaches and encourage more people to play together. I do solo heists mostly because I can't stand people ruining heists and having to constantly restart.

The Cayo Perico nerf is such a slap in the face to solo players. Few of the businesses can be effectively soloed without big losses unless you get really lucky, and none of the other heists are soloable. I too was one of those who would trade things up, I pretty much never do the grate entrance, usually I do the disguise/truck and grab coke on the way up, and base my entrance on where things are.

I'm willing to admit, the Cayo Perico Heist was a bit abusable. But that didn't disregard the fact that it was very useful as a grinding source, and it actually fixed a lot of problems when it came to making income for the general community. If you ask me, I honestly think the cooldown for doing the Heist solo should not have been touched, because there are a lot of solo players out there who don't have a great source of income, and when the best source of income they had is now being nerfed, it really does start problems for them. Luckily, the Contract has a similar payout and can be done completely solo, the only difference being that the setup is longer, but the payout is guaranteed and isn't based on the RNG for which primary/secondary targets you get in the mission unlike the past two Heists.

Even with pre-nerfed Cayo, I personally got really bored of it. I believe The Contract did well with the Franklin’s Hits, since it’s a good money source. My personal method was to do a hit, then an agency job, then Headhunter or the Phantom Wedge one, then a hit, then a nightclub popularity. Combining every passive income: Agency (I’m around 15k per day), Nightclub (50k per day) and Arcade (around 4k per day), and the hit, vip-work, sec. Contract and keeping the Nightclub popularity high, I’d make around a million every two hours. I’m not happy about the Cayo nerf, but even without it, I wouldn’t play it much.

The Professional's idea to award players more money and/or RP for doing the activity a certain way to mix it up a bit without penalizing anyone is a good first step to make activities more dynamic and less static. We know this is possible in this nearly 9- year old game due to the mechanics of the Pay Phone jobs after having The Agency.

The nerf on Cayo Perico makes me wonder why they did this. I mean I know why, they want to make more sales. However I feel like this has everything to do with GTA plus. Knowing Rockstar they will put some BS statistics that makes things go by faster. Random example but Clash of clans gold pass allows you to upgrade stuff 20% faster. I’m really glad to hear we can sell our businesses safely and I’m glad the K.D is going away. There is nothing more annoying than trying to just drive around the map peacefully and getting blown up, I shouldn’t have to live in passive mode. However the nerfing of Cayo Perico makes me so mad, I have one friend I play gta v with, and even that is very seldom. Most of the time I’m by myself and Cayo was such a great opportunity for solo players like me. Now they go and do this, they say it’s to increase player activity or interaction or whatever but it’s really because they think we’ll buy more shark cards which I won’t just like I won’t be interacting with other players. All I’m going to do is find another game to play. I really don’t understand why rockstar has to do this they do so much good then ruin it with something stupid like this, like you said professional, one step forward, one step back.

I’m excited for everything in this dlc except for the cayo Perico heist nerf and how they are going about nerfing the Mk2. All they needed to do was remove lock on to players and keep lock on to npcs that would have been a better change. I would still be able to grind with the Mk2 while eliminating the griefing problem with it. With Cayo being able to do solo helped those that couldn’t play for long make a quick mil or 2 in a short amount of time.

Cayo nerf is so bad. For anyone going “it’s all anyone did it needed a nerf”… just no. If you don’t like it, then don’t do it. It’s as simple as that. It was a way for those of us who don’t have time to grind out other businesses to make quick money to be able to enjoy the game. It feels like they added all these changes as a way to remove Cayo as a serious money maker without the community losing their minds because this 100% will encourage more shark card purchases.

Due to the new update expanding the other businesses, it makes sense to nerf cayo. Even I as a small solo "grinder" that did it like 2-4 times per day for a week sometimes and took a break, say it does need a nerf. Getting an average of 1,2 million per hour isn't what they intended the game to be; Variety is good, and doing the heist different ways isn't enough. As a solo grinder, I agree with the first response. It needs a nerf due balance the gta economy, but adding a cooldown that takes 2 and half hours to start again and 3 days to get better primary target is far ridiculous. I was thinking all they needed to do is increase to 1 in-game day cooldown and slightly decreased payouts.

ur still making 1.2 million an hour chill out. Back when we first started playing gta we made about 100k an hour grinding rooftop rumble. 1 year ago we made 1 million every 2 hours through MC businesses (with all equipment and staff upgrades. Ur still gonna be making more than enough money to have any car, business or property in a reasonable amount of time. Cayo perico is still the easiest, most broken money-method rockstar has ever added. If you buy shark cards that is completely your fault, there is so many ways to make tons of money in this game. If you're going broke its because you are buying useless shit and not investing in properties to get your money back.

Agreed. I personally enjoy and want to enjoy a lot of other things rather than constantly grinding the perico heist for money. I still do think it’s a heavy nerf, but it’s not really affecting me as much since I only do it once a day or every few days with my bro. What’s sad tho, is I wished to see other activities/heists can sort of match the money making efficiency of perico so it wouldn’t be so unbalanced, but we’ll have to find out if the new payout changes are good

I never could get into online because I didn’t want to pay and it was too grindy. The thought has crossed my mind about trying to get back into the game and using the Cayo Perico heist to do it. I’m a level like 156 so not super high but I have most of the stuff you need for jobs. This officially killed any notion of trying to get back into it. Rockstar you had one decent way to make money and it was still a grind and you decided, “nope not grindy enough. Not enough shark cards being bought.” It had 0 to do with feedback and everything to do with them being a scummy company now

I’ve always been more into single player story’s though. The best is when you can play campaign with your friends. Being 38 I don’t have a lot of friends to play games with and I grew up an only child so the story is what not only I grew up on but what I want. Rockstar used to be amazing on that front. Now corporate greed has ruined it at least for me and I know I’m not alone.

I was playing to play with friends and crew just for the laughs and destress, but I felt like I was missing out on other games too. I think companies are forgetting what makes us play video games, as well as buy them. I don't want to put hundreds more hours into getting a few items, and I don't want to overpay for content that should be free/inexpensive. As a kid I thought shark cards were okay. I was really, really dumb, because most of the stuff in Hests 1 was accessible. (Should have said that in my first comment, sorry about that!) It was pricy but you could grind with some friends and buy some reasonable cars to race with. People still played alot of content to take breaks from heists. Then they made modes and made it 2x just so people would play it, and or buy shark cards after to buy the extra goodies that were inflated. Long story short, it stuff in Story Mode is more affordable- considering you can still steal most stuff in Story mode too. GTA 6 took so long that now it's just a "meh" as opposed to "oh snap it's coming out". Any game recommendations while Rockstar hopefully gets their act together? Looking to add stuff to the library .

What I'd love to see is after you take a certain entry path in Cayo, like the drainage tunnel, Rubio will block it off in response for your next heist, same with the exit route, giving it more security the next time around. It lets people experience all paths and options and makes it less repetitive.

It would be nice if they implemented some of the great features in RDO into GTA Online like player blips only visible in your vicinity and defensive mode over passive mode so it's harder for people to mess with you but you can still have access to weapons. For me that I played solo 100% of the time, I never bought Shark cards, had to start from zero for the first time in 2020 and had to play Simeon missions non stop 3-5 days in a row while it was triple money to buy an office and a Buzzard, then do crates over and over and over again to buy a Kosatka with a Sparrow and then do solo Cayo Perico over and over and over and over again to buy everything I had right now (all fully upgraded businesses, all my cars, etc) and now that they include things that are a good incentive to come back and play like a maniac again, whenever I want to buy something is going to be a pain in the ass 'cause now is going to be so much hard for me to get money from a solo Cayo Perico heist... And I think just like you the Professional, doing heists with randoms is the worst thing ever. In fact, the only heist I have done as a host was the Fleeca job 'cause people never joined me and the way I played the rest was by helping other people, but still, most of the people f*ck up the heists by falling over and over, even by the most stupidest things. Races are a pain in the ass because of what you said, wins whoever didn't get crushed at the beginning; or the ones that have the meta car for that kind of race. You can be a really good driver but if you are against someone who has a really good car for that type of race and yours is not as good as that one, even if the other person sucks, you're probably gonna lose. Also, I even join a community about selling products in glitch private lobbies and had to abandon it because later was a pain to the get them working or griefers by pass them I came to destroy the cargo. I seriously hope that just as they doing good things with this update, I hope they learned from the feedback and change back things that shouldn't have changed, modify those they already did to make them better and do the ones they didn't fix.

T2 has never done anything because people want it. Honestly from every thread I read it seems people want GTAO to be a single player game. R* wants you to get griefed because it drives shark card sales. People dropping to their knees and worshipping the R* gods now should realize 2 things: 1. They have been neglecting solo players for so long like filling up 111 crates is like a tough challenge because I’m gonna have 50% chance of getting grief and I don’t want that. I stopped doing Cayo because it was getting repetitive so I did my ceo crates which are a big pain but I own 5 large warehouse and I sold 555 crates on double money. I’ve done that 3-4 times, and because of that I found my own way to make big profit like I know Cayo is the fast money method but ceo crates is the most profitable if you own 5 large warehouses. So nerfing the pay is pretty awful and increasing the normal heist and doomsday heist to 50% isn’t gonna help at all especially with the doomsday heist like honestly it should be doubled and tripled if you’re gonna keep it balance.

Solid review for even I who hasn't been on GTA online on console, pently of valid points made and glad to see Rockstar made some massive improvements. The fact they nerfed grinding a heist that actually has some valid payouts no suprise there. Maybe when Rockstar sees they are going the wrong direction decreasing payouts on heists that players enjoy, they boost payouts on old heists that aren't worth the payout. Me for example i was told even 3 years behind attempting the Doomsday heists, don't bother payouts stink not worth it and I couldn't even find a mere 2 players to join per any mission or heist. Thanks to seeing how long it took for Rockstar to make these improvements, I moved to PC role play lol 😆 I'll be rejoining gta online when the new consoles prices go down or if the new consoles PS6 ! and Xbox 6 release lfmao I pray 🙏 and say I hope Rockstar starts delivering for all you hard working loyal players! For the prision break its $500,000 for the pacific standard heist for all difficultys its Easy difficulty - $500,000. Normal difficulty - $1,000,000. Hard difficulty - $1,250,000.

A multi million dollar company still after over a decade can't stop using insecure and outdated peer to peer servers. Why haven't they allowed consoles to transfer their old accounts with their own exclusive content to PC instead of having to start all over especially since there is still a shortage of the new consoles? Some people have years worth of progress and exclusive items on their old accounts. They say account transfers were shutdown cause of all the modded accounts from PS3/XBOX 360, but it was removed awhile ago so what is the problem now?! The hypocrites might as well allow account transfers again since they can't clean the PC servers full of modders/hackers and modded accounts. Same with Red Dead Online since they pulled the plug on it. The nerfs/cooldowns for already worthwhile content is lazy and moronic. No one wants to play worthless dogshit content if they're not worth their time. Easy fix is to buff them massively and give underplayed content dynamic daily/weekly multipliers instead of out of touch event weeks. The phrase better late than never for to describe this update is pathetic. These quality of life changes should've been in the game ASAP. All these problems were really obvious especially being in the game for years like how overpowered Oppressors were, having to pay insurance for weaponized vehicles (btw all insurance was already removed on PC awhile ago because of modders using it to drain money lol) or how bad the older content payouts are and still are even with the measly 50% increase.

I'm gonna guess that the MK2 missiles will be less accurate or you won't have the ability to spam them. Overall, I think it's a solid update to the quality of life in the game. Yes, it is annoying that they have longer cooldowns for the Cayo Perico Heist, but I'm guessing it's to encourage players to do other things in the game to make money, especially with the pay buffs to some of the jobs and the ability to sell businesses in private lobbies. People can say 1-0 without score cards which they will most likely do. But if you kill each other a lot of times lets say 40 times each then nobody will most likely keep track of that. The reason why they are doing this now is because they milked the game to the point where people started leaving and just gave up, they purposly waited so long to get an update like this so that when it comes it makes people come back to the game and get hyped again, this way they will now have some more time to milk it before GTA6 comes

i literally don’t care what anyone says. this game has screwed me over so many times with glitches (not being able to drop off goods and losing product, hackers, etc) it’s incredibly annoying that rockstar does stuff like this which makes getting profit harder. things in gta online is definitely overpriced and the payouts are too low. the cayo nerf is the dumbest thing iv seen in a long time

I didn't watch the whole video so bare with me, but personally I used the KDR system to gauge what type of people are in the lobby I'm in and so far it's been completely accurate. As someone who grinds missions and usually just plays for fun, taking a quick look at the players in my lobby is usually the first thing I do and see if I dodge the lobby or not. One of the things I look at is the player's KDR, and it's one of three things usually: if someone has a crazy high or impossible KDR, I usually consider them an illegitimate account or a tryhard who cares way too much, I don't do high risk missions with these types of players in the lobby, and I usually dodge the lobby and look for a new one if there's more than one. Having a modest *legitimate* KD usually tells me the player is a legitimate player and they simply can be considered effective in PVP situations. In my experience, players like these are usually people who stick to themselves and are simply just ruthless when provoked and I've rarely seen tryhards in this category (who are usually all pretty bad and are just an inconvenience), I consider myself and my friends to be in this category. Lower KDs can simply be seen as casual/normal players and I usually don't see them as threatening say I see them barreling towards me in an aircraft. Once again, this method of gauging what type of people are in my lobby has worked nearly perfectly for the some hundreds of hours I've been playing; but maybe the removal of it in freemode could be for the better also i have nothing to say about the cayo nerf that everyone else has said a million times lmao it sucks

Exactly agree. If you want to encourage playing with friends/other players, you should make it much more lucrative for those who help you. Just give them VIP work pay for helping you collect crates and way more people will accept someone’s help request. Because indeed when I filled 10 warehouses solo, you get tired from those 3-crate drop missions where you have to go back and forth to and from the warehouse.

Listed Kill/Death statistic change is the very one change i was thinking about... and it should be great, it will not only reduce griefing, but alco increase the popularity of Adversary modes. Although, griefing for fun will continue to occur...

Pro, do you think we will be able to store the Ruiner 2000 in the MOC trailer? It's always bugged me that you can't put the Knight Rider car inside the Knight Rider truck. I feel like Rockstar has been trolling us with this for years. I know it's a special Vehicle but come on. It should "fit" but I'm curious to know if it will be included in this update. As far as the oppressor mk2 nerf, I don't think it's going to get buzzard missiles. It might get savage missiles instead. I could be wrong. As for the Cayo Perico heist nerf, it's going to be harder to start hard mode with the cooldown they plan to place in.

It's a shame R* didn't just keep most adversary modes. Stuff like Motor Wars or Trap Door were really fun in the rare times where the lobbies had some people in years gone by. I wish the modes were more popular, they're the most fun in the game.

I’m not sure how I feel about kd ratio. I have a higher kd (about 1.7) I don’t go out and kill people but I can defend myself. When I invite randoms to my heists and I see a low level with a high kd I’ll usually keep them. I see people abuse the system like the professional says and how it takes no skill, however I kinda want to keep it.

The Contract is pretty okay to say... if you play solo, I don't think it has a cooldown, I did it today, took like 3 hours to do, which... isn't nothing compared to cayo perico, however, if i would only use depressor and toreador, i would say it could take like 2 hours idk xD
