I dont see how any of you can argue that ebay's fees are cheaper than the other platforms. Yeah, they can tell you its only 13%, but they charge 13% of the total price, meaning you pay fees for shipping and taxes. You pay store fees, you pay promotion fees, etc. I have been selling more on the other platforms and am bringing in more money per item than Ebay. I guess each one of us are different and sell differently, but my taxes said I paid Ebay over 30% of my yearly income.. Now that I have figured that out, I can create my own shopify store, pay for advertising on social media and make more money for less fees. Best part about owning your own shop.. No listing suppressions, no faulty AI VeRo strikes, and no Ebay to force you to bend the knee to shitty buyers trying to scam the system!

You didn't pay 30% in fees.. you paid 30% in fees and labels... Ebay fees are clear 13% of the transaction. so $20 item sells + $9 shipping label $29 tav is $2. $31 13% of $31 is $4.03. i know i know. now do $4.03/20 cause you sold it for $20 and its 20% fee... WRONG you didn't sell it for $20... you sold it for $29 13.89% fee Promoted is totally optional. Store fee for most people is $23... if they sell even $2000 a month thats .01% Math is math is doesn't lie

No, you are not crazy. I have all my "pre-loved" clothing on auctions right now that will end before that takes place. Anything that doesn't sell will go off of eBay. That will only leave me with a few pieces of new clothing. When those sell, or I get tired of waiting for them to sell, I will be out of the clothing business on eBay. The kind of clothing I can get requires volume, and the new requirements just don't allow me to continue selling them. I've done the numbers, I would be better off going and flipping burgers at McDonald's than trying to sell used clothing on eBay. Which is sad for buyers, as I just had a thank you this last week for offering a size most sellers stay away from. I can't help but think she's really going to have trouble finding some in her size going forward.

It wasn't 13-14% before it was actually much higher since they charge fees on taxes and shipping. If you simply think of it in terms of 13ish percent on your sale item you are way off.

Don't forget the 40 cent FVF in anything over $10! You're right about based on state tax. I'm in ID, sold two things recently at similar prices. Tax was twice as much going to WA as it was going to CA. I paid more in fees because of that, wasn't thrilled.

@RockstarFlipper Actually, Poshmark is 20% on item only. eBay is 13.6%-15%+ depending on item category for most frequently sold items, + shipping + tax + promotion fee (if applies) + 30-40 cent FVF if item is below or above $10. So actually, it's not so easy and common sense, since you're not bringing this up and are comparing 20% Poshmark on just item cost to eBays item % only. eBay charges us fees for money we never see, taxes and shipping. Plus gives us a FVF. Poshmark doesn't do that.

An item that sold on EB for $15.97 + 9.55 s/h + 1.32 tax= $26.84 They charge 15% on the $26.84 = 4.03 + .40= $4.43 Total Fee Paid. That same sell of round to $16 x 20%= $3.20 fee on Poshmark. According to Math that's LOWER than EB when it comes to bags.

I'll chime in on one specific product. Heavily distressed clothing (by design). Some people buy clothing that is, by design distressed. How will eBay's new catagories handle this? Inherently, I'm not a complainer when it comes to business, but I agree with you Casey. Someone in some boardroom made a proposal, mainly bucking for a promotion, to find a way to make eBay more profits. I believe like you that this was a bad decision. But, it is the way of the world. I don't like it, but people. Pay attention to what is happening when corporations have power. This will not discourage me, I will keep punching.

I'm not to worried about the condition changes. I think if as a seller you really take the time to go over the item and are honest with yourself about the condition and list accordingly you should be fine. If you think about it, most sellers myself included fill in the condition description box in our listings. I use excellent, great & fair already. That is totally my opinion and a buyer could dispute that. So I really don't see the difference. Now buyers will be able to use the left sort and sort to the excellent items. Maybe that will help increase sales for some of us? Since this change was announced I have been sourcing differently. I'm really going over my items prior to purchasing and only taking the items in excellent condition. I've always checked condition, now I'm just going a little slower and trying my best not to purchase any flawed items.

They already screwed us on the shipping calculation update, as it's impossible to know true shipping cost, which has lost me money, guess I'll have to raise prices. The fee increase is not surprising ...just wish they'd address other things that woukd actually help sellers. It would be a huge boost for sellers if ebay adopted the 3 day policy after delivery to dispute for refund like Mercari and Poshmark have in place. Once the 3 days are up , wether you're rated or not ...the payout is sent and No returns or disputes allowed.😮

You're not crazy. They should certainly have a way to collect sellers' thoughts about their platform. They apparently are so smart they don't need input from the very people who use the platform. Ebay just can't seem to understand that humans have different perceptions of things. If they did, their INAD policy as it is would not exist. The three options are not enough. I buy a ton of clothing from thrift stores, estate sales, etc. with the tags still attached. Technically, it's pre-owned so why isn't there a "pre-owned with tags attached" option? I could be wrong but I think it's easier to sell clothing that has tags attached. I worry about receiving a vero when using "new with tag". Not surprised by fee increase. Greed runs amuck again and always will. Wonder why Ebay, as smart as they are, can't have a better shipping deal with USPS like Poshmark does?

Also, I feel like over a year ago I was talking about how I felt like they push traffic back-and-forth between stores to justify store fees, so they’re making sure everybody gets a little bit of sales so they don’t shut down their eBay stores even if they sell complete crap. I figured this was coming with the fb thing. It would be one thing if they were actually offering good tools in exchange but there’s not a single AI “tool” that’s even usable or helpful. And the research tool has actually tanked a lot of my markets bc people don’t realize how inaccurate the pricing recommendations are in my category, which is consistently 50% off (I sell the same items over and over). I resent that they’re going to charge me to continue screw with my business. We should at least get a vote if we even want these tools. And no, you’re not crazy- that classification is going to be huge mistake.

Ebays AI is a joke. I use List Perfectly and their Listing assistant feature is amazing. I appreciate the option to have about 15-20 options for the AI to use, like 'slightly funny' or 'just the facts'.

I just prepared an item to ship across the country from Florida to Oregon. I got hit with extra $2 on shipping ( I charge flat rate). It stung a little, but I will recover it down the road. While looking at my numbers for that transaction, I had an “international fee charged because the buyer’s “registered address” is in {another country}. EBay grabbed another 1.65% off total amount collected. There is no way around this? Correct? I would not know the name of buyers eBay account until they already made payment, then I run over to see where they live and then what? Cancel order? I lose a sale and jeopardize my 100% positive feedback status. Any suggestions? I know it’s petty, just curious if there is way to avoid this. I didn’t see anything in settings. Thank you for all the great information you give in your videos and sorry my comment is so long.

There should not be any tabs for damaged, since there are several moves over the last few years pushing folks away from selling broken stuff. They want to move to new items, which is where lots of money is. And regular supply.

Poshmark charges more but we can get way more money for an item on Posh than we can on ebay and make significant more profit. Ebay also takes fees from shipping which will technically make it more that that 13 blah blah percent. Not to mention store fees and the fact that if you want a chance to sell anything you have to promote. With all that complaining, we do sell more volume on ebay but per item, we make way more on Posh. There are a couple months a year we make a more money on Posh total than ebay.

I dont feel posh prices are "way more" than ebay, usually its close or within a couple bucks that I see. Like you said even if you make $5 extra on poshmark and sell 50 items a month thats $250... meanwhile on ebay you sell 150 items at an ASP of $20 thats $3000 on ebay.... so volumn outruns the extra few bucks

Like the easiest way for people to battle this is show eBay We just won’t promote as high anymore. I mean, promote it 3.5% less lol. Then they’re not really making any extra money 🤷🏼‍♂️

I noticed is eBay Standard Envelope at $.69 and $1.25 not sure why is two different prices. If just have to click on this under the carrier's list is fairly easy. Before were so many steps to get the eBay Standard Envelope that could never understand and remember it. I hope when mail out cards that is prints out the label and that is no other commands. I'll use this for sportscards up to $20 in value if so. Otherwise mailing Ground Advantage via USPS starting at $3.78 is a lot plus a bubble mailer.

Everyone increase their prices, due to inflation, except the eBay sellers competition. Do you know why is not everyone increasing their prices online? Is incredible. Ex. Items that are being sold for $10.99 FOREVER. And sometimes instead of increasing prices they lower them a bit more.

He’s saying that reselling is a race to the bottom. I realized the same thing a couple of months ago. Since C-19 all prices have risen - doubled, tripled! Resellers are taking less and less money everyday. It’s a crazy industry.

I sell some private label goods on Amazon and my competition hasn’t raised their prices in years so therefore neither can I…but the cost of the goods keeps going up along with Amazon fees. I’ve gone from around a 25% net profit margin on my products to now only like 15%-18%…people are so stupid…they just accept less and less and less..its infuriating.

I try to always look at the bright side , every change like this causes sellers to quit, that means less saturation on eBay and less competition where we source. So I see it as good, less than 1 percent increase and people are this mad? Small price to pay for less competition, I think once people do their taxes for the first time this year, we will see many leaves, not just from having to claim it on taxes but many people are going to see for the first time exactly what they made and decide it's not worth it. Also we have a great opportunity with the clothing update, for those of us who put our best stuff in the excellent condition category right away are going to have a boom in sales! Always look at the bright side people.

The fee increase was bound to happen sooner or later - personally I can deal with that as published. The Condition Description change, on the other hand, is the DUMBEST idea in the history of eBay. I already commented in more detail on this on your 1st vid mentioning this... but it's worth repeating HOW FRIGGIN DUMB THIS IS! eBay better also increased their Customer Service band width 'cause the complaints will multiply EXPONENTIALLY.

15-20% with a small promotional allowance plus .30 listing fee for every item over 250 per month so .60 for something listed for 60 days, .90 for a 90 day listing. And they add the shipping and tax and then take commission on them also. It’s impossible to sell high volume low margin items. Especially rare or odd things that used to make eBay great. They used to have the things you couldn’t find anywhere else now you end up losing money trying to sell those odd things someone needs once a year… they have become too much like amazon
