I remember thinking originally that Arthur seemed like the generic jerk protagonist in this trailer and finding him a disappointing choice for a protagonist. Oh boy was I wrong, not only was he a fantastic protagonist who you could end the game with him being a massive villain or a relatable but flawed hero but he is one of the greatest video game protagonists of all time.

It's incredibly nostalgic to look at this now after experiencing this game and going through so much in life. It not only gave me the best gameplay experience, it gave me something to hang on to, and (it may sound silly) it made me learn so much about life and what truly matters, how people can change from one second to the other and how unfair it may be. When I lost Arthur, a familiar feeling came over me, of grief, that I had never experienced before for a game. It was like he was truly alive and it rendered me numb for a couple of days, and I couldn't believe how deeply I was feeling. Rockstar is the best game developer out there and nothing will compete with their storytelling, ever.

I know what you mean man. When this game game out, my gf got it for my birthday that year. We got a home, got engaged, had a baby. Our son is 4 years old now. Her and I have been separated for 2 years, no longer talk, and I now have a daughter with a girl I went to high school with. I’ve been in and out of jail a couple times. It’s crazy how fast the time goes in hindsight. 5 years have passed and my life is somewhere I never imagined it would be. This game came at a turning point in my life and it will always hold a special place in my heart.

Great story, and it’s amazing when a game gets you like that isn’t it! One thing I will have to disagree on though is the storytelling. This game is absolutely brilliant but far far off being a great storytelling game. Arthur is written beautifully, but most of the other characters aren’t and when you lose certain characters in the game it’s like meh, no connection. Witcher 3 for example is way way above this in terms of storytelling. But I do really like this game

i love how they made arthur look like such a badass but also a bad guy. like i remember the feeling of realizing you are playing as someone that is apart of the gang you had hunted down in the first game and starting to think you're playing as a full on outlaw. Especially the way the trailer ended when Arthur told Dutch he'll always have his back, just hit differently because we knew how horrible of a person dutch was in the first game. finally the game came out and it was nothing short of expectations, truly a masterpiece.

Adorable, one of many things i am so excited for the horses. First thing im going to do is rob a horse from someone nasty, but has to be someone horrible don't want to be taking a horse from a nice family. Remember when I first saw the trailer for Rdr2 I was so hyped and couldn’t wait to get my hands on it. I got it the day after it came out played the story multiple times and it still never gets old. It’s grown to be my favorite game and I really don’t even play any of my other games cuz I’m always finding/trying to find new things in it. No I'm pretty sure Arthur is the reason John leaves the gang. Remember the first trailer. You can hear him say, "When the time comes, run and don't look back." I think they're saving it but I speculate Arthur and John are gonna have a strong friendship and Arthur is probably gonna realize he's too far gone for redemption but John isn't so he tells him to leave and stands up against Dutch but dies in the end. Arthur is obviously his right hand man so I think his betrayal and death and John bailing will split the gang up.
