I’m considering buying the Rocktol 22-in-1 ( because it’s almost exactly like the Leatherman Signal, just $100 less expensive) so I’m checking out KZbin reviews. Yours was very thorough, thank you for that..!

These are manufactured by Hangzhou Great Star Industrial Co., Ltd - GreatStar Tools. They are marketed under multiple names main difference will be packaging and sheaths. These have excellent fit and finish. The only downside side is blade thickness and the files are inferior to Leatherman. I purchased one marketed under the Mossy Oak label for just $23 on sale.

I've got the Rocktol 29-1 sko5 multitool which is an UPGRADED version of the "Surge" and i love it. Carry it every day. Fit and finish is outstanding and @$50 it's hard to beat. Note: i previously purchased the real "Surge " at full price and i prefer to carry the Rocktol sko5 for one thing because the bits are full size 1/4" not proprietary cut down "soft" leatherman versions.

I lost my Leatherman Signal and just couldn't stomach the replacement price. I just ordered this for $100 less. Should be a perfect glovebox tool for my campervan. Thanks for the review!

Hi, great video. Is that a diamond file? Thanks

I don't believe so. I do not have it with me to check, but I believe it is a steel file.

All in all, 7Cr13 is an entry level stainless steel. Somewhere between AISI 420 and AISI 440A steels. The main deal in all of this is the heat treating, that makes or breaks any tool.

Correct, thus far, with daily use and only a couple of sharpenings, it's doing well.

I wish this had a full plain edge blade. That's the main reason I never got a Signal.

I use serrated knives a lot, so its a plus for me. With a little bit of grinding, you can always make it a plain edge.

Concerning the steels between leatherman and this there is not much difference. Leatherman switched to 420hc which is not a great steel.

That good to know, thank you.

The heat treating of Leathermans 420 is waaaaaayyyy better though
@Survival-gyver Жыл бұрын
@@pmichaelsonjr Maybe, but that doesn't justify the price. Ive broken more leathermans than Rocktol so far. So as a cheaper alternative, it works.

@@Survival-gyvergreat point. Leathermans warrentee is great, but you might pay more for shipping than you will for this tool!

Dude, maybe you should wear gloves when handling multi-tools, lol, Good review. I've been wanting a decent full size multitool for a while that's not too pricey. I've had the Dime for years and it's been great for it's size but it I pushed it past it's limit by trying to bend a thick piece of wire and the handle bent backwards at the pivot so I'm on to something a bit more robust. 👍😎👍
