Hello. Great video! I work at Rockville, I'm the graphic designer. That DB55 gift box is my work. I also designed those "birth certificates", which I personally think are ridiculous (hope my bosses don't read this). Anyhow, Lukas, Lukas Louw specifically, was a well known and respected sound engineer that tested most of the preproduction samples of the amps and helped us to fine tune them. He was expensive, but well worth it. Unfortunately, he passed away in November of 2020. We learned so much from him, that after his passing, we created an in-house testing lab. Also, I agree with your comments on the K9, enough already. 'eff all the haters.

I bought 3 of these DB55. The amp sounds great and powered my entire system by itself with 2 Polk audio 6.5's 2 Polk audio 6X9's and 1 12 inch American Bass sub. The only problem I have with this amp is none of them lasted longer than 2 years. The 5 channel that powers the sub always stop working. The last one I bought channel 4 stopped working. Of course I checked the fuses and everything. The amp sounds great and have good power to push my system however in my case they don't last. Just my 2 cents.

Rockville is really taking over the budget amp world. People can say what they want but these amps are impressive to say the least. I took a chance on Rockville 2 years ago by buying one of their amps for my Harley and was impressed. Then got another one for my truck. I have been impressed since. Then I saw dyno's on Rockville amps and thats when I knew I had made the right choice. I have no doubt these amps will last. I had my reservations at first but I could not be happier. Best bang for buck amps ever made. I'm 63 years old and have been a car audio fan since I was 15.That's 48 years. Damn that is a long ass time. Now I'm getting depressed. I gotta go ride my Harley and listen to some rock n roll. One thing I have learned over my years of car audio interest. No matter what I always install small cheap fans to keep ANY amp I install as cool as possible before ever turning them on for the first time. Heat is a killer to ANYTHING and I live by that idea. I have not had an issue with heat in many many years. Better safe than sorry. Damn my Harley is getting hot. lol I'm outta here. Keep cool

Thank You for being unbiased about the product line unlike some of these “I paid for every amp or sub over a $1000 you get what you pay for” type of guys. I’ve been on both sides of tree in spending a lot on systems to experimenting with low budget systems and I’ve sold and installed a lot of Rockville products over the years and I get next to no complaints about it. Only complaint I ever had was one guy who was a idiot and would’ve destroyed anything that I put in his car because he thinks he can turn up radios and amps to the max volume and gain when he has a system in his vehicles
@thatdude82474 жыл бұрын
I'm with you on being on both sides but we're all here for getting the most for the best price....sometimes the not expensive amps are just as good....I had a used jensen amp in the late 90s and couldn't kill that amp even thou I didn't know how to tune an amp back then, that amp even went swimming with the power supply still hooked up....made me think differently when I was exchanging a jl audio in on a warranty.
@damemoe294 жыл бұрын
Justin Hayes exactly Bro, I also bought and sold different stuff from the late 90’s that was cheap and preformed well and I was limited in knowledge back then being only in my late teens and now that grown more knowledge in car audio Ive seen even the big name brands sell more cheap amps than their top of the line stuff because most people just simply can’t afford or just not gonna pay for expensive car audio, they’re gonna make that dollar stretch as far as they can. People just need to get a better understanding of the product they buy and it’s limitations so they won’t waste money and time by destroying their equipment because of greedy brands lying on specs but that doesn’t mean the product is trash it means brands are liars, that’s why I love dyno videos because it doesn’t just expose gems or bust it helps you choose the right subs or speakers for a amps true power so you won’t have a horrible audio experience

These "in-expensive" brands like Rockville, Dual, Boss, etc. are a hit or miss proposition. Some are more miss then hit (Blaupunkt?) but some actually sell a good product at a great price sometimes. This looks like one of those times. How long they last is a mystery. But you can say the same ting about most of the name brands as well. You pay your money and you take your chances. I have been using one of these for 2.5 years and have had really no issues with it. It did have some issues going into protection mode due to low voltage. There was a 2.5v voltage drop at the battery terminals. Voltage at amp would get down to 10v at amp with volume cranked up and really pushing the sub channel. I have upgraded to a bigger subwoofer amp now, but still use this one for full range. My only complaint would be that it runs hot. I have compared this amp to a JL Audio 5 channel (3x the price) with very little difference in sound quality. Budget gem for sure!

I can say with confidence the Rockville Phenom Marine Amps are very good. They are set up as SQ Class A/B amps with decent power and sound great (especially combined with a Polk DB+ Coaxial Speaker. This combo will exceed your expectations.). No problems so far with the amps running fine after a couple of years either. The only thing, this Marine class A/B amp does not support a subwoofer very well. So get the 4 or 6 channel, run ya 4 speakers, and 2 tweeters, and each have their dedicated channel. Then run your subwoofer with like a Stinger Class D monoblock and you be rockin' and sounding great. (On paper, nothing touches the Polk DB+ Marine speakers at any price).

That amp does look like a gem for a cheap system. Hopefully it holds up over time. I'm still not a fan of Rockville. I have 2 Rockville RW10CA's that have been collecting dust for a while as they easily overheat and go into protect after running for 15-20 minutes at a moderate volume. The only way to prevent that is to place fans directly at the sides as they designed that product with insufficient heatsinking which causes the amp to overheat and go into protect. Even tried them out (individually & together) in 2 different vehicles and on a high amperage 12 volt power supply I have in my workshop. Plus they sound pretty weak even when they do work...

2 things to upgrade your car stereo over "the other guys and gals". 1) Use Marine quality components. They are built much better, and have to pass certification to get the marine rating. Think of how a boat must handle the chop of the water without a suspension. So Marine Eqpt. is definitely much better put together of all of the brands that make Marine stereo eqpt. It's just about every brands best offerings. 2) Always use a Line Output Converter. Specifically, a Recoil or Kicker LOC. Those are the only 2 I know and seen tested that work as they should, and do not distort your signal, but actually filter and boost your signal. By boosting your signal to your amplifiers they will run cooler/sound better. Best $25 you can spend on your stereo!

Would really like to see the Rockville Phenom series like the 5 channel RXH-F5 tested and reviewed. The Phenom series is supposed to be superior to the dB series amps.

I had the phenom series 5 channel in my old car. I sold it to my buddy's daughter. It's been going for the last 6 years with the sub channel running at one ohm. About 120 w per channel at two ohms to the doors. And just setting it with a DMM and ohm's law running 1200 watts off of the subchannel at one ohm. Built the Plexi box covering half of the amplifier with 140 mm fan forcing air through to keep it cool. Haven't had any issues.

DB series are better than Phenoms

@@bigblank69 I don't like that none of the DB series except the new comps are one ohm stable

Budget Gem or Budget Bust thank you for your kind reply. I do own the RXH-F5 and it sounds great, just wanted the low down on the dyno test. I might be tempted to go for the dB 5 channel in the near future.

specs for it 80x 4 + 300x1 in to 4ohms @ 0.05% THD (it can do

I had 2x K6 subs and they were a great value, and handled more power than the 'CEA' rating. I also had the 5 channel amp from Rockville RXH-F5, and it did a great job too...albeit it running fairly warm. I had to leave my Rockville subs behind in a cross country move, and I went with Skar to replace them...and the Skar subs have not been as good as the Rockville even though they cost more money. I may get rid of the Skar and get a single Rockville Destroyer.

I have a Destroyer and Punisher here and they are both impressive for the money

The k9 is the only Rockville product that had problems and all there other products are nice.

The bottom line here is still that regardless of brand, if it does rated power or more and sounds good, it should be praised, if it doesn't, it should be shamed, period. I don't care if a brand has released noting but pure junk for decades and then finally comes out with a good one, they should be rewarded with higher sales, good reviews, and praise on social media for doing the right thing for a change. Maybe, just maybe, this will push them to continue releasing stuff that doesn't suck. It probably won't work, but at least we tried.

The only issue i see with rockville is the crazy ratings. I know the subs im using are not ever going be 2800 rms subs i doubt that they are the quote 1400 cea rating they gave them but i will say a 2000 watt skar amp is not enough power them to full potential. Thats my current set up with them bridged down to 0.5 ohm

The problem with Rockville is not their power ratings, it is their QC. My DB55 had a faulty crossover switch and would cut out while driving.

I’ve had the DB12 for 5 months and I’ve been using it every day and it doesn’t get really hot like Skar Audio Rp amplifiers

Just picked one up after watching the video! Can you provide any tuning tips? The manual is pretty basic concerning tuning of the amp.

What after you using for speakers on the first 4 channels? I have a JBL gto 609c rated at 90 watts RMS. Is this about right for the RMS on each channel @4ohm. I'm not looking for the best

Rockville is working to improve their products and in my book makes them a good company because they care.

After scanning all the nice comments, I want to yell out "Rockville sucks!" just to be contrary. But truthfully, they look great inside and out, and I think I'm going to order one before the prices go up any more. Thanks for putting us onto this great deal. Love your videos, but I too would like the "low sodium" version, as my wife walked through just as you were dropping F-bombs, and scowled at me like I said it. Yikes!

I have the f5 (the older 5 channel) and an m4 . Never had an issues and I beat on the f5 pretty hard.
@kirktotallyrocks3 жыл бұрын
I’m thinking of getting the F5 because of the smaller footprint (would fit under my seat, db55 is a little too big). Do you feel it also puts out rated power?
