I feel somewhat ashamed that I only recognised this man as an internet meme before now, I never realised he was a boxer and a damn good one at that too. Those combinations of speed and power are what every trainer wishes for in their students and to utterly outclass the current champion in the opening round is truly a remarkable achievement. He had a troubled and rough life but I’m glad to at least now know better late than never the talent that was underneath. RIP Lockridge, I hope you’re finally at peace.
@ccali327 Жыл бұрын
It's really sad, when I first saw that, I really cringed at people laughing at him. The idea of laughing at anyone at such a low point is horrible, but when you know of the person and saw how accomplished they were, it just makes things a bit more tragic.
@mortekaieve4729 Жыл бұрын
What's really crazy is I realized that the guy from the "former boxing champ ko young punk" video - the old man in red who knocked out a thug in front of a gas station ended up being the crying meme man, then I found that crying meme man, who the young guys in the gas station video were calling "champ", really was a champ.

RIP Rocky Lockridge. The struggles you went through many won't understand, but I do. "For the last two decades of his life, Lockridge had drug problems. He became homeless and suffered a stroke which forced him to walk with a cane. He was featured on A&E's Intervention TV series, on which he claimed that the intervention and the help of his sons saved his life. His appearance on the show is noted for a notorious moment where his son Lamar says, "Because I know, somewhere deep down in my heart, I still love you," which caused Lockridge to break down crying hard enough to the point where he was screaming at the top of his lungs. This spawned the internet meme "Best Cry Ever". He was also caught on video defending himself by knocking out a bully with a single one-two jab-cross combination near a convenience store. In interviews, he expressed a desire to be drug-free, having stated that he had never been this clean, even in his fighting days. "I feel so good today that if I hadn't suffered the stroke I would go for a title shot," he stated. He was also interested in becoming a boxing trainer."

Definitely seasoned and taken too lightly from Roger May’s camp. Tried to bang with a banger. You youngsters have no idea how tough divisions were back then.
