My dad helped plow the road up there when I was a toddler in the early seventies. OSHA would flip out today if you brought a toddler with you on such a job. I have a very clear early memory and loved living in Estes Park. There is nothing quite as spectacular as watching back lit snow being thrown from the road and down to the valley a thousand feet below.

My parents honeymooned in Estes Park in late April, 1941. They followed the snow plow as it made its way to Bear Lake! That must have been a wonderful view that day!

I have ben on that road MANY times; every summer I'd visit my Grandma in Colorado, a few states over from me, and we'd drive up to Estes Park once or twice a week for the whole month

I’ve been plowing many different roads for many years, and I would love to be a part of that

In Scandinavia they pack the snow tight and drive on top of it, although sometimes they clear it but thats mostly in cities. But then the snow is so deep why clear it, why not just pack it down and drive on top?

A task..easy work for the proper equipment...they act like it's so special to open it. they would gladly keep it closed if they could, the nature hoarders want it off limits to everyone.
