Half rectangles are a fantastic block. I use a different ruler (studio 180 split rec). If it is a block you enjoy, investing in a ruler will give you a lifetime of perfect executions which will save you fabric and time.

It is because of ruler. The catty corner methods are making two at a time. The ruler is the way to go for those who are making many blocks. It more than pays for itself in fabric utilization and accuracy.

How does one cut the triangles without a Perfect Ruler? Not sure if I want to invest in such a Ruler, as yet.-Patricia-South Padre Island, Texas

There are other methods out there to achieve the same thing. I prefer the ruler as it's much easier for myself.
