That dog is the reason why I started watching your channel. There are a gazillion guys posting waterfowl vids but only a few who hunt with a dog (and even fewer with dogs who does it right). Anyone who doesnt hunt with a dog is missing out on the full experience IMO.

Awesome video. These dogs have an unbelievable nose. Last season, one of our local ponds froze over and while my buddy and I was busy breaking ice at 4 in the morning, Hunter went off somewhere and came back with an ringneck in his mouth. We suspect it was shot down the previous evening so I tried to keep it warm so we can drop him off at a rehab but it ended up dying hours later. Love your videos man.

I have a “hyper dog.” She’s also the most fierce hunter I’ve ever seen. She will fight, kill, hunt and retrieve perfectly. She’s a 48 lb female black lab and is the biggest lover I’ve ever met. Don’t let “hyper” fool you; it just needs to be focused in the right areas.

I commented on a video a few weeks back about training and any tips you had. My puppy is now 9 weeks old as of yesterday. Everybody ive been with while working with cooper (my pup) has been so amazed at how well the training is showing with him. Shoutout to you man I appreciate it

I can’t stop watching this. I’m a little late but this still is so heart warming. Awesome dog. I remember when u started training him me and my dad would watch them together. We got our puppy about a year and a half ago. She hunted a little last season, but she hunted with me on my junior hunt. I shot a drake pintail in the tulies and I thought it landed 50 yards away from where she was. Kinda like your story with rocky I started walking back thinking damn she’s not ready yet. I look back and all I see is a brown spot in her mouth and I was so happy so was she. I also noticed that she didn’t follow me when I started walking so I knew she was on something. I ended up shooting a 3 man limit of specks mallards and pintails with my good friends. My best friends quote “I need a dog like that. I thought of that banded mallard as soon as I seen her find it. Anyway great video by far my favorite and great editing. Much love ❤️🤙

Excellent video, I love watching Rocky work! I had a similar experience with my dog and my first banded duck. It was a woodie that totally thought I missed. My dog, Tanner was relentless to swim across the creek. I couldn’t keep him out of the water, he swam across flushed the crippled duck ( my gun was jammed) so it was totally up to him to get that duck. To my amazement the bird was banded, I haven’t second guessed him since. Again love your channel!

I’m impressed watching the guys from the flyways that have dogs. Rocky, chief now Georgi and even candy. Some great dog work and is primarily the reason I subscribe. I have a GSP so I’m a touch biased about breeds but, love watching the retrievers you guys have. Most cripples don’t stand a chance. Great tribute and Rocky knew you were talking about him!

This is an awesome video brother. Dogs really are the unsung heroes of the marsh. A lot of dogs don't get the hi fives that they deserve. I agree with you totally that a whole lot of people don't understand the connection between a hunter and his dog. Rocky is one of those amazing dogs that just get what is expected of him.

That is a good story!! Remind me of my pup he just turned one year. And no one believes me when I said I’m taking my pup to hunt this year and you see everybody like are you serious?? He is still a pup. I go i have faith and trust on my dog. And guess what!! We have caught 7 species of ducks this year. And I’m not gonna lie he made me really proud!

There are only two dogs I like watching retrieve birds on KZbin. Rocky is one of them. For what it's worth, the other one is pro trained and Rocky is every bit as good...better at actually "hunting" for birds. Well done.

I never noticed the white patch. Hes still a STUD. GREAT DOG COMPANION HUNTING BUDDY. CHERISH the MOMENTS. A duckhunter will only have 1 or 2 GREAT dogs in a Lifetime. Ive had one. Had to put him down this year. Tough after 12 yrs of loyal service. Drake RIP.

Probably not enough, not much right after season but 2 months before season we go out a couple times a week and than more and more as season is closer. At that point it’s just to get him in shape

I took your advice and I'm following the Chris Akins duck dog Basics DVD and I'm at the stage of collar conditioning and I was just wondering do you still use the collar? Do you recommend the collar?

I use it all the time. Not as in pushing the button but it’s on his neck every hunt. I absolutely recommend the ecollar. I went on a hunt without the ecollar and I’ll never do it again
