One of my all time favorite wood crafters, Richard Louis "Dick" Proenneke, utilized a similar concept to pack many of his tools out into the woods. He carried the heads, and created the handles on the fly. Having the same handle for most is even better. Thanks for this very informative video Dave. I'll look into this set.

This is a great kit for the money. It's not so expensive that you can't save up for it in a reasonable amount of time. There are other items he has that interest me as well. Thanks for sharing.

I bought a set and have built a wooden box to keep it in along with a full bit set and saw blades,rasps And made a full set of awesome leather and rivet sheaths with snaps. In the box is an oil bottle, extras, ark stones. Have about 5 bills in the set. For the people that think it is expensive...each set represents a week of the makers life.

thanks for the vid and I learned something new that helps me a lot...I make canes for vets and I'm not that great even though I have about 26 or so made...love my moras but some times I use a hand axe and I noticed that laddering upward technique and then the clean down.

Shit dave you rock bro. You used each and every tool and you show and teach so much skill in your videos. You give guys like me ideas in purchaseing these tools and practicing with them in my back yard. Your teaching videos have taught me so much and i have become very skilled in my back yard as well as in the woods of central california where i master these skills and then teach my boys. They always ask me dad how do you know all this stuff? And i tell them a man name dave canterbury taught me. Dave i really thank you alot. I know other guys have learned alot from you but i took your videos to the next level. Some of your teachings i spent a couple months on untill i mastered it and then i taught my boys. Ages 8 and 15. Dave ever since i first saw you on dual survival you were the guy. That show has faded out because you left and cody well im not a bush hippie who walks barefoot with pink bandanas ok. Your a mans man and your bad ass. Thankyou so much for the skills that i have mastered and taught my boys. Ill follow your teachings till the day i die. My kit my carry, my field weapons, all of it. Your a massive inspiration dave. Keep kicking ass.

Now that's clever! I expect it'd be ok to cut back the handle if it got in the way, but looking at you working with it there was no problem most of the time. Could even do without a bag for them and hang them on cordage

The CapeBretoner That is very very strange since I replied to you on the comment page. This reply is in the "notifications". Yeah brother, you probably have seen me comment on other peoples videos. For an old geezer I get around pretty good, on YT at least. I've been a subscriber to Dave's channel (always will be) since BEFORE I found out he starred on Dual Survivor, so I've left comments here quite a bit. IMHO, Dave is an all around awesome dude. Several years ago he did something really special when my grandson graduated high school. I'll NEVER tell anyone what Dave did that was so special. I fear he'd be swamped with requests. It simply proved to me what a down to earth good man he truly is.

Not a bad price if you're serious about it. Problem is by the time someone knows if it's for them they will have all those tools already most likely. Therefore it becomes a luxury exspense
