Paccar are making a 15 litre 600hp banger for the Aussie market. The 13 litre motor is rated out to 540hp. Combined with a ZF 12 speed automatic, I know of people who are saving 100 litres of diesel/trip(1200kms) over the Cummins. Takes the work out of having to shift.

I drive a 12 speed auto/MX13 now but a few weeks ago it was a 10 speed/MX13 combination. I do about 400 miles a day and I conservatively estimated I save 3 gallons per day with the 12 speed. I do the same route twice a day. I go one way with an empty trailer and return at about 72,000 lbs. It pulls pretty good through the hills of western and central Nevada. If there are any O/O's or companies out there looking at this 12/MX13 combination, I hope this information helps.

I understand the nostalgia from the guys who prefer the 379 and similar models from other manufacturers, but I honestly find the sleek lines of the 579 to be the handsomest tractors on the roads. I'm not a driver, though, so I suppose that the guys who drive could explain that it's more than just nostalgia that motivates the folks who prefer the 379 and similar machines.

Great truck. I drove a 2020 Pete 579 fully loaded. It was a dope truck. Personally though I’d go with the Cummins over Paccar.

I don't understand why tractors don't come with tiny bath's with showers. Just add a bit to the wheelbase. And with truck stop showers costing ridiculous amounts of money (like $14+ dollars per use)? It just makes sense. In 2022, tractors should (and easily could) have everything a tiny RV has. ☮

Keith is the horsepower handicap on the new 579? I have seen the older models sold off the lot at 605 2050 torque .

No, you can still get 605/2050 I just ordered two with the 80" bunks

I think the cooling issue is handled now. Peterbilt was restricting the HP and TQ due to cooling issues. I think we are all good now to 605/2050.

You might know better (not might..for sure know better). So, you have the 579 for those that want a more modern look, and the 389 for the classic look. Why did Paccar get rid of the analog dash? I would imagine that most buyers opt for the gauges versus an LCD on an old school looking truck, or do most buyers want screens?

Hey Dion Absolutely no issues mate. You have excellent access to clean your front windshield but hear this what a difference when it rains or even better when is snowing with wet snow and road slush, salt spray over your driver and passenger windows. You definitely keep them clean longer that gives driver better visibility for longer and especially in mountains driving driver is not force to clean them so often looking desperately for a safe spot to stop… We have 3 of this new toys fully spec running for 2 months on Rocky Mountains in Canada.
