I live literally 5 minutes from here. It's honestly even more amazing than the pictures. Its so peaceful and really makes you appreciate nature. I'm sure the natives are used to it but I can just not get over how beautiful this state is.

Such great memories of first visiting the park when I was 12 and then later moving to Colorado Springs and being fortunate enough to work for Lyda and Nancy as we opened the visitor center in 1995 and then watching 7 years of sunrises from one of the most beautiful places on the planet. Nancy has recently passed but her dedication to the park and to my personal growth will never be forgotten. Thanks also to Lyda for her vision and unbounded graciousness to the park and the people of the world.

My dad was stationed at NORAD from 1965 to 1968, and my family used to go on picnics st Garden of the Gods. Some of my best memories are there.

3:24 Lyda Hill was once one of the richest women in the US. Among the top 3, if not the most weathy at one time. She built the visitors center then donated it to the city. I had the pleasure of meeting her and she is so down to earth and was very nice to me and my father who moved and hung valuable art work. The first time I met her she was sweeping the floors (that she owned) of the kissing camels country club and was blown away with her demeanor and kindness. What a phenomenal woman and has done so much for the garden of the gods and the city of Colorado Springs. I also had the privilege of staying at a resort she owned in Vail. Proof that money doesn't have to spoil someone from being a great person. This video is a gem and so glad to see her featured here.

I moved to Co Spgs in late 90s from Ok fresh out of high school. I used to go to GOTG at 5am by myself & climb to the top of various monoliths to watch the sunrise. Joint in hand of course. It was pure bliss. The rocks turn fire red for about 10 min at the break of day & I would just bask in it. Good times👌

Way back in 1975 . . . my first summer away from home, between my junior/senior year of High School . . . I spent a good part of my summer, exploring Colorado Sprongs. . . . from it's western neighbor - Manitou Springs ! No more but one half mile north'-northeast of this town . . . Garden of the Gods, stood supreme. Ran a 10 mile race - Garden of the Gods 10 miler, through it ! Truly supreme !

Take a Car..You will creep along with many others, over the paved hills ,however ,if you want to take Pictures, ; I suggest ,you wait til you are out of the Car.The People behind you may have ,less patience than you.; so you can compose, your photos ,with out, Horns Honking 😃😃

Easter 1944, April 9, the Colorado Springs High School Choir was heard singing for the Easter Sunrise Service at the Garden of the Gods. It was broadcast on the US Armed Forces Radio to all soldiers in service both in the European and Pacific theaters. All of the churches of Colorado Springs were united in making this a spectacular service as everyone wanted to boost the morale of our soldiers who were about to participate in the Normandy Invasion, D-Day June 6. No one knew the details of what was coming, but church leaders were asked to create a significant and spectacular service, which they did. Though I do not have a recording of the service, what was reported to me was that Colorado Springs High School Band provided accompaniment for hymn singing. Today this would be mixing of church and state, but in WWII it was important that our soldiers knew everyone on the home front was with them. There must be records of this service at the Colorado Springs Historical Museum, the Pioneer Museum, what would now be William J. Palmer High School. This was one of the events that made the Garden of the Gods a major tourist destination for Americans over the next several decades.

One of the two men referred to in this video as the ones to name the Garden of the Gods is incorrect. Melancthon Sayre (M.S.) and R. E. Cable were the men that named the park, not Rufus Porter. Rufus Porter was not born until 1897.

As a Kansan, Colorado is so much more impressive than Kansas that it doesnt make sense how they can be right next to eachother. I live in the KC metro on the Missouri border. Everybody here goes to the Lake of the Ozarks on the weekend after 2 hours of driving and we all think that those giant hills there are beautiful. But Denver and Colorado's mountains are far superior and are a trip that is considered better and higher in quality.

Garden of the Gods real name by the local native American nomadic tribes. The Ute people Arapaho: (Ho3o'uu Niitko'usi'i) is a public park located in Colorado Springs, Colorado, United States Garden of the Gods was neutral ground for Native Americans. Even rival tribes laid down their weapons when entering the garden. This peaceful area was sacred and a hub for trade between nomadic tribes. The Ute people were native to the area and made the land near the formations their home during the winter months.

Garden of the Gods is Geologic. But this poorly done Documentary talks about cultures, and the different peoples who lived in the area but nothing of the GEOLOGY.

Beautiful of course!! But no maps prior? These people have their history all warped and not true. There were maps and it wasn't just a place of memory to the Natives. A geographical empire existed and the rocks and area and water springs tells you this was almost like melted away and the Deluge flood plays a part. Not only that, named a town Little London near by and Palmer and the railroads tells you of a "dark magic interest", which still has its overule till this day....and GIANTS and their skeletons removed and Smithsonian cover ups and funding PBS!! Sorry, but this didn't just get discovered. It's been on maps that were made prior to 1492 and history is literally off by 500 to 1000 years. These locals have believed a myth and 20th century cover up, and if they delved deeper into its history or their wisdom, something was here not 53MILLION YEARS ago( are you kidding me), but perhaps 1000 to 2000 years ago. Located on a leyline even...these people are 100% wrong and they all seem angry and bitter cold. They just don't understand this place. I can tell you exactly who lived here and all the pieces fit in place of a HUGE cover up. Edited added....ALERT...NORAD UNDERNEATH...YA WHAT A COVER UP
