John Rambo True John, but they are only pushing the envelope to show distance capability. For the average guy, you can still learn from them. For example, having an efficient swing is good, even if you scale it back. Second, if you fish with something like "gulp", no, it won't come off. Third, I saw a surf technique you might appreciate: in some areas, they heave a heavy weight--WITHOUT the bait, put the weight where they want it, then use a type of swivel and leader to "send" the bait out to the weight. So there are applications that work with this kind of casting.

Get an offshore angler 12footer power stick with a Penn ssv7500 lc and 40lb braided and use a 3oz popper. It is a perfect combo for casting offshore you easily cast 150yd all day. I go fishing with my buddies all the time the farther you cast the more chances you have of catching a fish.

I can throw all the way across the clearest part of my yard which is probably around 60 yds, by just flicking a bass rod with 1/4 ounce weight. If I was to get out one of the big cat rods with a few ounces of weight on it I could probably land my baits on the moon and reel in a 100 pound alien

I get at least 50 more yards with bait on with a bait caster than my spinning rigs. Most of the time I am casting triple the distance of the spinning crowd easily 150y yards. I use a 3 ounce roller weight with a breakaway bait clip and allow the tide to roll the bait onto the sand bar on Plum Island known as striper alley. This year I was one of the few who could get out there since most of the sand bar eroded so casting was the only way to get out there. Up here you really don't need long distance casting for stripers since they come close into shore to feed, except at the Cape Cod Canal and other places due to changing beach conditions.
