This song was about a man that loved a woman, shot the “cupids arrow” got it broken, picked it up and eventually brought it back. I went into the Marine Corps in 1980, was engaged then to my now wife. We broke up due to distance and me being deployed doing Marine things. I retired in 2002, and she and I reunited in 2009, married in 2011, I brought her that broken arrow. We are both over 60 now, I have Leukemia from the Camp Lejeune water, but later this month we are celebrating our 12th Anniversary. I love her more than life itself

I’ve loved this song since the first time I heard it years ago! I know Robbie Robertson wrote the song and the lyrics and a lot of people prefer his original version but Rod’s cover tears my heart out. The imagery he uses in the video is so mystical, beautiful and sad. That, combined with his vocals and his interpretation of the melody, make it a haunting song that I’ll never forget. One of my favorites, absolutely beautiful and soul touching. To "love" someone and that love be returned is a very rare thing. These days dam near impossible especially after years together. There will be days of fighting, arguing and over petty crap. The 1st thing that tends to happen is an affair, which to me is the worst thing one can do to the other. Break up, get a divorce and just leave. Don't start messing around and being all sneaky bout it, lying etc. I had a distant friend who threw herself at my ole man, he kept her at Bay but she eventually broke him and he went for it. I knew immediately they both snuck around and betrayed me. I expected it from her because of her ways, but him? Well it floored me. He's still here with me although he refused to own up to the affair. It's just not the same, I told him to just own up to it without any details and then I'd forgive him and we could start over. Well he will not Amit to it so that tells me he will never be completely honest with me. So instead of us building our life together we're basically just existing together. I love n adore him, I always have but the magic and intense feelings of love, butterflies in the stomach, the whole nine seems to be gone and until he owns up to his affair I don't think we'll ever get past the point we are at. This song makes my heart bleed my soul broken. However things turn out is for the best I reckon. So I look at it this way, my heart is crushed, the heart is crushed into pieces of glitter and the next guy will Soo love the shine of that glitter. Too bad the one who crushed it will never know, and simply because he refuses to Amit to it. That in itself just pisses me off. Oh well his loss.

This song brings tears to my eyes, it explains what I couldn’t put into words to my husbands mistress.. in the 80’s he left me and our two small sons, I was so heart broken not knowing what I did wrong. He stayed gone for about 6 Months. I had no idea he was being unfaithful until 2012 he was emailing her and I found out after reading her version of their affair in the 80’s. I texted her and told her if he wanted her I would not stand in his way. He wasn’t having any of that, so he stayed….I cared for him until he passed away in 2021. I still don’t understand…we had love and passion but it wasn’t enough I assume. It’s hard to understand.
