Apparently Rod Stewart has stated that he personally dislikes this song and rarely performs it live. Ironic given it’s one of his most successful songs and helped revived his career as he was going through a rough patch in the mid 80’s

@@rodgriggs3647 It wasn’t really the sound that he hated but the lyrics which he thought were silly. He didn’t write it though and that’s often a sore spot for many singers and bands. The interesting thing is that the woman who did write it (Holly Knight), is actually singing in the background. She also wrote for many other popular artists like Tina Turner, Heart and Aerosmith.

Olga Rojas (Perú). I´ve got to confess that I´m not R.S.´s fan, in fact, I don´t like most of his songs (except "Do you think I´m sexy", "Passion", and this one). I was very young at that time and I could only listen to it a few times on the radio, of course... I guess it didn´t become as popular as his other songs, which is incomprehensible... the music and lyrics are very good. Thanks for putting it here. Tengo que confesar que no soy fan de R.S., de hecho, no me gustan la mayoría de sus canciones (excepto "Crees que soy sexy", "Pasión" y ésta). Era muy joven en ese entonces y sólo pude escucharla pocas veces en la radio, por supuesto... Rod Stewart looks uncomfortable hamming it up in the first half of this video. Not until he grabs the microphone and gets on top of the judge's desk does he seem to loosen up. The video itself is pretty cheesy in general. But I LOVE this song! Always have. So unfairly slammed because it was "too pop" for Rod.
