Fantastic performance. Gliere was a truly great Russian composer, a late romantic successor to Tchaikovsky (this piece has a lot of Brahms influence as well). His music was overlooked in the 20th century as more modern-sounding music became fashionable but thanks to IMSLP people are discovering and playing Gliere again. I think this Sextet would be performed more except the parts are all wickedly difficult to play. Even professionals have to woodshed this a lot to get the intonation and ensemble to work. And it's long with very few breaks. The entire piece is first rate but the middle movements are especially exquisite.
