It makes no sense that Rode, a high-quality mic company, would provide such a scrawny mic stand with such a scrawny mic (which has really nice sound)! You could get a neck injury constantly leaning down to get close enough to the mic.

it is a mic for a boom arm, and they've made a stand just to put this mic somewhere for the time when you don't have mic arm

Sounds great, love the size (portable) but honestly the proximity you need for best sound would obstruct my face the way I make my videos. I like traditional condenser shape.
@simongoode70253 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the review - i wish you tested it more with the camera out of the frame (i.e. like you did with it on the tiny stand). I want a mic for Zoom/training sessions and don’t want it next to my face. So I guess around 1-2 feet

Your videos are really good. I like your style. And you give much information. Thx
@fingerboardlife2442 Жыл бұрын
I feel like this is all 100% incorrect imo. You treated it like its a shure sm7b dynamic mic which you talk closely into.....its not that. The reason for the short base is to get it off camera for zoom calls and such as you can talk further away, its a condensor mic...you just set the gain for talking close. Put the mic between 12 and 18 inches from your face, adjust the gain accordingly (you tested the mic on the appropriate magnet stand with the gain turned down at a desk waist high)and now you know why this mic was created.....if you want a boom mic on camera, buy a dynamic mic
@GeekyNerdyTechy Жыл бұрын
lol. That's a good one. Plenty of people utilize the proximity effect on condenser mics. I'm not sure what planet you are from but best of luck.

It is still a handicap to have to have the microphone constantly close to the mouth, and not pleasant to watch for the one who will then watch the video. Is it possible to adjust this microphone to be able to move it 24 or 36 inches away from the mouth while still having a very effective sound rendering or do we have to put it near our mouth to be able to obtain the optimal sound quality ?@@GeekyNerdyTechy

Can you connect more than one NT-USB through a USB hub? Since it uses a USB-A connector at the computer end, you should be able to use a hub to connect more than one at a time

Hello, I think I'm subbed to your InTheBlues channel. I bought this mic thinking I could record some plug and play guitar clips with it, as messing about with DAWs is just too much if I want to remember a riff. I ran into a problem with it not having a volume control and the microphone clipping even at pretty low amp volumes. I'm pretty well versed in setting up microphones and recording but even turning down the gain in my DAW didn't mitigate this problem. It might be an ok mic for podcast volumes depending on how loud you shout, but anything above that is a nono. My phone mic clips less than this thing does.

Question - if I enable some effects & settings on windows using the RØDE Connect software. Will it be carried over to other devices, like my PS5 or iPad. Bcz I cannot install any software on those devices to control this mic. Please can you answer??? I am looking forward to use this only on my PS5 for streaming, gaming recording. I saw that this has a NOISE GATE built in which is triggered by the software. And software is only on Windows & Mac. So what I'm thinking is, I'll connect this mic to my windows laptop, enable noise filter & then take this to my PS5/ipad. But i need to know if the setting done on windows software will work on ps5/ipad.

I'm working on upgrading my recording setup for game streaming and this video has been very helpful and informative, I do have a question very specific to my current situation - I have very noisy neighbours who also have a dog that is always barking, especially at night, my current headset mic tends to pick up most of the barking, will it be helpful in reducing that external noise if I get the NT-USB Mini (I want to keep soundproofing as the last option)

What do you think should I buy for Voice-overs, NT Mini USB or the Blue Yeti?

Both sound very nice for voice over work. The Yeti is a bit easier thanks to the ergonomic design. If you have a boom arm either is good choice.
