The VXLR Pro has a transformer-balanced output whereas the Plus has an unbalanced output. This gives the Pro two advantages over the Plus. Neither has to do with sound quality, per se: 1) Transformer-balanced outputs can be used with transformer-balanced inputs, which will not accept unbalanced signals. 2) Balanced signals can be driven down longer lines with lower noise than unbalanced signals. Therefore, compared to the Plus, the Pro has broader compatibility and potentially lower noise over long runs of cable.

Hi Helman thanks for dropping a comment. Yes that's exactly right, and I do mention that in the video. I don't want to sound like some engineer who created them because, I'm merely a user. but there are electricall components though, which can have an impact on the electricity passing through.To me the audio coming from the Pro does sound a bit richer. Who knows maybe it's just my mind, creating a bias towards the Pro, either way thanks.

@@florinG I wouldn't be surprised to hear a difference between the Pro and Plus but that's not the primary difference. Ah, you did mention it. My mistake.

Real transformer inputs can always be fed unbalanced, just connect the cold to ground, you lose all common-mode noise rejection of course.

Thanks for this review, I wanted to make sure the Sanken COS 11D (with 3.5 mm sennheiser locking connector) actually works well with the Rode VXLR Pro because that's what I'm planning to use for an interview. Searched for quite a while online but couldn't find anything to fully confirm that until I found your video, seems like it works great :)

How would you connect a Rode Go 2 to a Rode NTG 2, and would it work - making the NTG 2 a wireless shotgun mic.

Hi, thanks for the video! Could you upload next time some audio samples on a dropbox folder, for us? WAV 96 kHz/24-bit would be very nice, to see how they look in Audition. Best regards and thanks again!

Hi, if it's within your budget maybe get the VXLR+, you can you use with it with both mics that require power and those that don't, cheers.

@@florinG - Hi there! Thanks for getting back to me, I greatly appreciate it! Aha, so you're saying I can use my VideoMic Pro+ and VideoMic, as well as my Smartlav+ if I go with the VXLR+? And I won't be able to do this, if I go with the VXLR Pro? Thanks.

Great video, thanks... Does these accept stereo jack?
@florinG
@florinG Жыл бұрын
Hi, thanks for your feedback. That’s a tricky one because TRS are capable of carrying a stereo signal, problem is unlike 5 pins XLRs, 3 pin XLRs are mono inputs. In case you’re wondering I did try a stereo setup on the adapter and it doesn’t work, it only accepts signal from the Tip and Sleeve while it ignores the Ring. If you do need to use a stereo mic you’ll need to use a TRS input for it not an adapter, cheers.

Hi There. Great video buddy. I wanted to know how it works if i connect the receiver and split the stereo into two individual channels of the h6 , would it still send phantom power to my receiver of the Rode Wireless go 2, and will that damage my receiver. Secondly if is witch off phantom power will it keep my received safe? Cause i do not use the vXLR + for phantom power but only use it to connect my receiver of the wireless go 2 to the H6 to split it to two individual channels.
@florinG

Hi, thank you for your feedback. You don't need to send phantom power to it and as far as I'm aware it won't damage your Rode wireless receiver but unnecessary electric current in your system can add noise to your audio. Please note that you cannot access the audio tracks after they have been passed to the xlr input. XLR inputs are mono which means the stereo signals will be merged, if you want them separate you need a breakout cable and record using two inputs on the recorder here is an example link www.gak.co.uk/en/roland-rcc-5-352xm-5ft-1-5m-black-series-interconnect-cable-3-5mm-trs-jack-to-dual-xlr-male/908762?gclid=Cj0KCQjw0JiXBhCFARIsAOSAKqA7A6UPXWfP6beWs2Z2gGnMYW4evsnLEG7icpiMVuO38M7Og5X4pYkaAuVcEALw_wcB&gclsrc=aw.ds Here is a relevant short video related to splitting tracks, hope it helps : kzbin.infoGsccC6tdm5c , Cheers.

You can buy your own but be aware that they should be called 'breakout cable' it usually has tip/ring written on them, thanks.

Hello, can I connect a mini jack lavalier microphone to the Zoom H5 recorder via VXLR? or should i use the VXLR+? Thank you
@florinG

Hi, you need the VXLR+ for that kind of setup because lav mics require plug in power. VXLR+ converts phantom power12-48 to plug in 5v suitable for lavs, thanks 😊

Hi, I have not used the Rodecaster Pro II, but they should work because the adapters will covert the 48V Phantom power from the Rodecaster to 3-5V plug-in power for lapel mics, thanks.
