I have a Rode Wireless GO II and a Steinberg UR22C audio interface. UR22c has two XLR inputs, A and B. In input A, I have condenser mic requiring phantom power. This turns on 48V for BOTH inputs A and B. My question: Is it safe to connect my Rode Wireless GO II line out to XLR input (that is, UR22C input B) that has live 48V phantom power turned on, and if it is, what adapter is needed? VXLR plus or even VXLR pro?

You will need either the Plus or the Pro, both of them have a transformer inside that steps the power down and stops any damage to the mike (the standard VXLR doesn't have this). If you use it without and have the phantom power on you will damage the mike. This is the response I got from RODE when I asked them: 'Hi Graeme, thanks for your message. Being battery powered, the Wireless GO doesn't need phantom power. If you're using the standard VXLR, you need to have phantom power switched off, otherwise you can and will damage the Wireless GO by feeding phantom power through to it. The VXLR+ or VXLR Pro have a power conversion that will take phantom power down to a safe level for the Wireless GO. As you mentioned, this can be used as a safety net in case you accidentally switch phantom power on.'

@@splootyvision Thank you for your answer! It's good to know that VXLR+ acts as a safety net.

Yep, both VXLR+ and VXLR Pro have a power converter built in which steps the phantom power down to a safe level.

Great Video! Question, so if I just use the RODE Wireless GO II Receiver connected to my TRS to TRS connector to my regular RODE VXLR and NOT the Pro version. could I burn out or damage the RODE Wireless GO II Receiver if Phantom power is on? Let me know what you can please.

Hi there, Yes if you've got have phantom power on you can damage the RODE. The VXLR+ and VXLR Pro both have the stepdown transformer which protects against this. Here's the response I got from RODE when was looking into this myself; 'Hi Graeme, thanks for your message. As you mentioned, this can be used as a safety net in case you accidentally switch phantom power on.' Cheers, Graeme

@@punknugget561 Haha, yep I sent my standard VXLR back (but not before I burnt out a lav mic accidentally leaving phantom power 😩, fortunately it was only a cheap one). Glad I could help 🙂
