Masterful modeling work! I think the SS D.III is the most beautiful airplane ever flown.

Whatever pitfalls Roden kits throw at you, you always conquer them....terrific job all round.....building, painting, decaling and rigging. Really enjoyed the way you tackled the decals especially Roden ones which can be quite troublesome....and very large ones to boot. I learn something each time I watch one of your builds....i.e., waiting for decals to dry before trimming with a new blade....simple technique but successful. Another great watch, thank you!

I must say from a modeling point of view this is about as perfect as a human being can produce….superb build, skills and whatever else you want to throw in…

Thank you Phil, to be honest it was a tough build, because of lost decals, deadline (I wanted to finish by the end of the year), the prototype itself (not one of my favorite plane), but in the end I really like the result!!!

I used basically the same wood paint technique on the fuselage of a 1:48 Albatross D.Va. yours looked great too. Nice looking build.

Cool, thanks, this technique is not unique and very easy to do

Like the Pfalz, this airplane really exudes character, and your chosen colour scheme and execution really bring this out. Wonderful!

Thanks Michael. Before I started the project, it was not my favorite plane, but I really like how it turned out.

Thank you for sharing. Do you have any advice on applying the decals included with this kit?
@FlyingCircusModels2 жыл бұрын
Thanks Malcolm, with all Roden decals I recommend to cover them with a layer of a clear coat first, cut them and apply only after that. Or just buy aftermarket ones lol
@od14522 жыл бұрын
Where do you get the wire and needle stock for rigging ? Great job. Thanks for sharing.
@FlyingCircusModels2 жыл бұрын
Thanks, I purchased a wire roll a long time ago, like 5-6 years and I still haven't reached a half of it. For needles, I used to work at a medical company and I took a lot of expired needles. Doctors couldn't use them for a medical purposes, bc they were expired, but they were good for me ;-)

Great Job! On Rigging, When you glue the eyelets in Bottom wing do you angle them to where they line-up with Top wing or just glue them in Straight sticking up? Nice Wood Work & Decaling!
@FlyingCircusModels2 жыл бұрын
Thanks, I do not angle them, because there will be only a circle on top of the wing

Hi. The beading thread is 0.2mm nylon, right? And does it ever sag after it is on the model? Cheers. 😊
@FlyingCircusModels Жыл бұрын
Hi Ronald, correct nylon beading thread, if you make a good tension (it has to be like a guitar string), than you will not have any problems, but if it has less tension - you may need to adjust or even rewire the whole model
@ronaldbyrne3320 Жыл бұрын
@@FlyingCircusModels many thanks for the quick reply. Some of the beading threads I found are made from different materials, so now I know it’s the nylon ones that I need. Tight as a guitar string, I understand now. 👌🏻
@markfrommontana2 жыл бұрын
I couldn’t decide which part of this build I admired the most-the oil painting of the fuselage, the lozenge decal application (with lozenge rib tape!) on the wings and horizontal stabilizer or your dexterity in crafting all those fiddly bits- eyelets, machine guns and interrupter gear linkage to name just threes. So I give up and will just pronounce the whole build as brilliant. Kudos. BTW, how much do you thin down the Future for your airbrush and do you use thinner or water? Cheers!
@FlyingCircusModels2 жыл бұрын
Thank you Mark, to be honest I do not thin Future at all, if you add water it will have a white "fog" on a surface, so I use it pure without any additions
@markfrommontana2 жыл бұрын
@@FlyingCircusModels Thanks for the tip. I’m assuming the Future will leave a gloss or semi gloss finish. Ive used Future to polish windscreens on my slot car builds but never tried it as a final host on an airplane kit. BTW, your build is doubly impressive given it’s a Roden kit! 👍
@FlyingCircusModels2 жыл бұрын
Yes Future gives a very nice gloss layer, so you can apply decals on it and they will not have that "silver" effect. Thank you for your feedback :-)
@mikedillon64903 ай бұрын
Could anybody tell me what the product 'future' is, that is sprayed on the oil paint please?
@FlyingCircusModels3 ай бұрын
Of course, Mike. Future is a product for wooden floors to make them shine, like this www.amazon.ca/Johnson-11182-27Oz-Pledge-Futureshine/dp/B000ARPH4C

FINAL PART, WAIT, WHAT HAPPENED TO THE CONTROL LINES ON THOSE TAILFEATHERS ?
@FlyingCircusModels2 жыл бұрын
Yeah, I didn't show it on the video, but the process was almost the same like rigging, I drilled holes, then put the wire through and used needle pieces to hold the wire
