One of my heroes growing up. Just goes to show you no matter where you come from, what walk of life, with enough try and determination you can do anything you set your mind to.

To this day I still remember meeting Charlie Sampson. It was winter of 1983 at a Rodeo in Arizona, he had just won the world championship in December at the NFR in OKC & he was such a gracious man, even to an annoying little 12 yr old kid like me. I even got to shake his hand and to me, it was like shaking 5 bands of steel. Thanks for the great memories Charlie.

I got to meet Charles too. Just a quick handshake and a picture with me. What a nice man Charles is. He was very gracious and friendly. I am still a fan. I treasure the picture I have with him. And his big smile. What an honor for me.

Quaid, what an awesome story and fabulous story.....for we at Imasportsphile web page responsible for posting this video and 2300 others currently....think yours is one of the best comments we have ever had....cuz we believe our vintage library, which still has 7700 more videos to post is a treasure chest of memories that hold vivid memories of great athletes with hands of "5 bands of steel".

I got to meet Charlie Sampson at the Heroes & Legends at the South Point in Las Vegas, NV. He’s the best Bull Rider in the 80’s & 90’s.

This Rodeo took place in 1985 right before they opened the Infield Grandstand & Suites in 1997 & New Bucking Chutes from Preifert in 2013. The Calgary Stampede Rodeo went through changes since the mid 1970’s.

Mr.Afaganis was the announcer for this and many other sports events on Cbc.google would likely be better at explaining it than I would

Thanks....for his voice sounds very much like legendary sportscaster Curt Gowdy....as that is who we at ImaSportsphile thought it was....and we did google Ernie....who is definitely a legendary Canadian sportscaster in his own right....just like Gowdy.
