Hi, 8:54 In the ball question, if we take loss as C.P-S.P woundn't that give a -ve value, so we should consider it as loss = s.p - c.p? If I wrong can somebody please explain why?

When there is a loss, c.p-s.p would always be a positive value, only when there is a profit the c.p-s.p value would be negative, hope that helps!

For the last concept -> last method, should we not be calculating CP for the number of articles for which SP is given? Instead of calculating for the lesser number? For example, SP of 35 bananas = CP of 30 bananas Using method3, CP of 1 banana = Rs 1 CP of 35 bananas = Rs 35 (Instead of calculating for lesser i.e. 30 bananas) SP of 35 bananas = Rs 30 Loss = (5/35)*100 = 14.28%

We can also do the 1st question using the method from the previous video. After finding out SP=(8/7)C......Now, if the discount from MP is 1/9, then the MP will go up from SP by 1/8 using the formula n/(d-n)......now MP=SP*9/8.........=(9/7)C........therefore MP-CP=(2/7)C

So here 20% discount will be calculated upon sp I.e on 20% discount on 140 , new sp after giving discount -112. Profit= 112-80=32. According to the problem 32 is 224. Then rest can be calculated accordingly Ans 280

@@maaryah4331 let cp = 100 Sp = cp + 14.28% = 114.28 Mp to cp = 11.11 (discount allowed, it's a decreasing value) 11.11 = 1/9 (n/d+n) Therefore, sp to mp = n/d-n = 1/9-1 = 1/8 1/8 of sp = 114.28/8 = 14.28 Sp + 14.28 = 128.56 Mp = 128.56 Markup % = 28.56/100 (change upon intial value) = 28.56 % It looks like a complex solution but take a pen and paper and practice

sir i did last question by the third method :- lets assume CP of 1 banana = rupee x then CP of 35 bananas= rupee 35 therefore SP of 35 bananas = CP of 30 bananas = rupee 30. Now as we can calculate loss% = loss /CP *100 so loss% = 5/35*100 =14.28% though the answer is coming right but as u said we should take lesser number but here by taking the greater number 35 i got my answer. Sir is this method good for other questions as well???
