Someone told me that Oliveira had played in Broadway orchestras in New York a long time ago. I wonder if that's true. Wiki does not mention that.....

Yes, true, in college days. But then Elmar has done just about everything!

@@palladin331 Then it's probably true that my grandpa saw him in a touring orchestra in 1969 playing the Nutcracker ballet with the New York City Ballet? Nice...... He told me there were only three first violins and he was concertmaster but it sounded like a full orchestra. Very powerful player.

@@violinhunter2 Sounds likely. Elmar was 19 in 1969, which is when I met him. Later, in the 70's or 80's (?) he performed the Barber Concerto with the NY City Ballet from the pit. Stunning, to say the least.
