Kante all day long. Facts: He has played in different systems for different managers with different players and shined through and through with trophies. And mind you, he is just a little guy. Rodri has only played for one super team... that controls everything with one manager.(its easy to play for Peps' team bcs they control everything) So even if he has won a triple....its not comparable. The body size, the systems, the athletic durability and the ability to adapt makes Kante King.

Kante and Robri have a similar role, but different style completely. I would say Kante was more a "defensive" 8. Rodri is a pure 6 and easily the best in the world at it right now. Kante used speed, tackling, and ball winning. Rodri controls the game, sets up in correct positions as a holding midfielder. I would love to have Rodri and Kante together. That would be perfection.

Kante 2015-19 for me. Rodri’s great, but Leicester wouldn’t have won the league with him in midfield over Kante, but Man City could’ve won the treble with Kante instead of Rodri. Rodri still has some time though of course, but playing under Pep obviously helps a lot

But thats not an arguemnt for who is better but that City have more quality. Kante isn't a 6, he's never played as a lone 6. Rodri can play as a 6, a double pivot and a CB. People forget that not that long ago defending and attacking was expected of all CM players, you didnt say people were cdm or cam. They did it all. Roy Keane was a goal scoring midfielder who just changed his game to prioritising more defensive work because of who he was playing with but he could do it all. Rodri is primarily defensive but is still able to do the rest of the game expected of a pro footballer playing cm.

Kante is more box to box than Rodri traditionally has been. Rodri is much better in possession, a better passer, and a better striker of the ball. The one thing Kante has over him is pure ability to make a tackle and win the ball. Fortunately, Rodri doesn’t need to do that much because his positioning is so elite that he intercepts more than tackles. Two completely different players, but I’m having Rodri all day due to his versatility and completeness.

Rodri's very good but Kante will be in my all time eleven. He's that good, and I've been watching football for over 30 years. He was motm in almost every knockout match, including the final, in the year Chelsea won the Champions League. Messi didn't even do that! The only thing Rodri has over him is that he plays more. Kante's 2nd touch was a tackle. Kante's style of running about ratting at people's ankles has historically been more pleasing for British pundits/audiences but I think we're a bit more sophisticated these days. Gone are the days (mostly) where being busy and/or sliding into challenges is seen as the barometer. Kante is not on Rodri's level.

The things Kante did in that World Cup were nothing short of special. I actually think that France would have won it again, had he played. Rodri is a great player in the City system while Kante is great in Chelsea,Leicester, France and Caen. Rodri is not the same in the Spanish team.

Rodri and busquets have similar styles bcoz they worked under pep guardiola. If you want a team that has a possession game then Rodri is your man. And if you want a team which like to counterattack and doesn't want the ball much then kante is your man. But I think Rodri is better bcoz he can change the tempo of the game and score big goals.

Rodri does not do well what Kante is best at (def) and vice versa (attacking). However, one could argue Rodri is a more complete CDM vs. Kante in terms of being well rounded...but look at who Rodri has always had around him since he joined Man City and we all starting talking about him. Kante helped carry France to a WC and CFC through thick and thin helping us to a CL winner. Rodri strikes, Kante does not...Kante is already blindsided the attacker that Rodri is still positioning on, etc.

Kante could never dictate play single handedly like Rodri. Rodri has a higher passing accuracy for long passes (>30 yards) than most players will have in total. Kante is an amazing ball winner but that’s all he is. Kante isn’t a technical player which was shown when he was played further forward last season whereas we’re seeing what happens when Rodri appears on the edge of the box.

It’s Kante and it’s not even close. Rodri has been world class for two years in the best team assembled ever in English football.
