man, let me disagree, TX was big for sure but before him Rodil Ferrugem was the bigger street skater outside Brazil (the man won some xgames back them) , and certainly opened that road. course its hard to name only one, I mean, cezar gordo was great (and did so much for so many people, like Luan for example), Fabrizio santos too (witch Nilton Urina was my childhood heroes), But Carlos Piolho (how we know him here) and Rodil Ferrugem was the road openers for brazilian street skaters

Kelly is out his fucking mind for thinking street league is so important for SOTY. Not like he’s biased at all! (Hint hint) Braden’s part is amazing and I’m a huge fan of him, but he didn’t have one switch or nollie trick and also didn’t have any variety of ledge tricks. Jeron knew what was up because Blake Carpernter had such a well rounded part. Kelly wouldn’t budge though because he’s got a brain the size of a mike n Ike.

The olympics skate coverage in the U.S. must've been sh*te, it was on the main channel here in the uk, my neighbours/older relatives all of a sudden started talking to me about skating coz they know I'm into it, it was weird but I liked it. Even like last month I went to buy a bird table for my aunty, the old dude who makes them starts talking to me about Sky Brown 😂 I'd much rather that than what it used to be when people just prejudge the whole thing as trouble making. Just my humble opinion.

I hate that skateboarding is in the Olympics. But it is a double edge sword. Old school mentality says noooo, but on the other hand. All the new kids picking up a board is by far more important to me then trying to keep it underground. I wish it wasn’t so corporate and back to the “ma and pops/ skater own” companies. I feel once you go corporate, you forget why you picked up the board in the first place. I personally love Braille skateboard for focusing on getting new skaters in the industry. Are they the best no. But like Mike V says its about spreading the gospel of skateboarding.

Corporates take the profit and it drifts into investors pockets - that money doesn’t go back into the industry cos those investors aren’t skaters. If majority of brands are skater owned, they spend their earnings within skateboarding.

Personally I can’t rate Hoban so high. His impossible is a thing of beauty but he doesn’t skate switch. 1 switch trick (switch 180) 1 nollie trick (nollie flip on flat) 3 fakie tricks ….. the rest regular. Compared to a Tj who is basically skateboarding ambidextrous.

skateboarding will never work in the olympics imo. first, it is getting lumped into some broad category in world skate and that's the first sin against it. the next is that too many strict parameters have to be attached to it which defines what those bodies think it is - and the more you define, the more you confine. skateboarding was supposed to always be about NOT overly defining or categorizing it, or wrapping constraints around it. once you do that you remove so much of the endless potential that skateboarding can be, which is what makes it art. the same problem arises with music. strict classification and definition required in the olympics is anathema to the inherent open potential and forms which comprise the art of it. and that's what is most important about it to me.
