We hear a lot about other stylistic pioneers, from Merle Travis to Chet, Django, Tommy Emmanual etc, but when I tell folk about Gabriela, most have never heard of her. It's great that you've got her actions down smooth. There are so many things to learn on guitar that I haven't prioritised her styles but if I found a good resource, I might. I bet you throw beats into lots of songs now ;)

@@hey-jax I love those musicians too. I did a stylistic variations project in college and I decided to do 2 variations in the style of RyG and Django. I absolutely loved working on that project. I didn’t see any direct source when I was learning her technique. I just watched live videos of her. I’ve read that when they were busking in Dublin Gabriela was influenced by the techniques of the Bodhran. I learned this too late so my playing doesn’t use those techniques. But if you start maybe you can try it out! Yes, I do put a beat to almost every song. Rhythm is in my soul! I can’t help but feel it and move to it. Lol

@@st.baritony It's obvious from your playing how accomplished you are, but to have dived deep into RyG and Django (or anything gypsy jazz) is really next level. I'm self taught (first picked up a guitar at age 30 and then had long breaks, like everyone) so I don't feel ready for any RyG songs per se but you've inspired me to try out more percussive techniques.
