Oh the memories this song brings back to my 71 year old ears.......and the movies that play of my life when this song first came out are so vivid to be lived again...!!! Watching this video takes me right back to 1976, coming home from babysitting and turning on "Don Kirchner's Rock Concert" to see one of my favorite singers ever in this pre-recorded video and having my mind blown at its beauty- in every way- Stewart's voice, the lyrics, his clothes, the garden. Saw Rod live back in 1981 or 1982 in Philly. That was the best concert I attended. By that I mean nothing but great music, nothing fancy just down right great music!! One hit after another was sang and the audience joined in on many songs!! Great all around concert.

When I worked in anoperating theatre first as a scrub nurse and latterly as an anaesthetic nurse. In one theatre we had a morning list for vasectomies! These were carried out under local anaesthetic to help relax our patients we'd play music! we always had a laugh when Rod Stewart's record, The first Cut is the Deepest came on. There were a few others that made us smile, sorry I can't recall which one's here days.

This song is so relatable , I recently had a huge disappointment with someone, I met another person who finally is everything that I want and more but I find it so hard to be in a relationship again , because all I know is toxicity,abuse , bickering ,lies and deceit , I wanna make it work because I am so in love with this new person
