Watching this video takes me right back to 1976, coming home from babysitting and turning on "Don Kirchner's Rock Concert" to see one of my favorite singers ever in this pre-recorded video and having my mind blown at its beauty- in every way- Stewart's voice, the lyrics, his clothes, the garden. For instance, for most people Moby Dick is an allegory about the perils of blind ambition and revenge. For others it's just about a guy chasing a whale. We can at least agree that it's a great song.

@@garybradley1 Well, I could be wrong. But then again, artists usually say that, especially about songs than could have a controversial meaning. In any case, that's the beauty of art. It can mean different things to different people, even things the artist didn't intend or consciously meant when writing it. To me it's about how you never can replicate the euphoria of that first high (the first cut), no matter how hard you try. How it is to love something you know is bad for you. How drugs sometimes can help det your tears when you're feeling sad. Perhaps by making you feel comfortably numb (to quote another artist). Oh, and a funny thing. Melville actually once said that Moby Dick in fact is about a guy chasing a whale and nothing else. It is however widely believed that he was just fed up with journalists constantly asking him about the true meaning of the book. Also, sorry if I sounded condescending in my first comment. Didn't mean to.

When I worked in anoperating theatre first as a scrub nurse and latterly as an anaesthetic nurse. In one theatre we had a morning list for vasectomies! Fun fact. This music clip was filmed in the garden of Rods LA home alongside the staircase water fountain. This house was later purchased by Bradley Bell EP of soap opera bold and the beautiful. This fountain still exists and can be seen from time to time on episodes of B&B.
