This song has a special place in my heart. First time I heard this the summer going into 8th grade. My Dad and I drove to South Carolina to visit my grandfather. I remember at some point during the drive I had passed out and woke up to my dad singing along as this played on the radio. My dad was always a pretty decent singer, but I remember he sounded great singing this song. I remember just watching him and admiring him so much. We had a really tough relationship for a long time but I moments like that reminded me how much I loved and admired my Dad. Nothing about the lyrics or anything else, but that memory will forever be attached to this song.

This brings back so many memories from 1976, I was only 16 and this song resonates with where I was in my life at that time. I've seen him live in concert 2 or 3 times. I got close to meeting him because the floor manager knew how crazy I was about Rod Stewart, and I worked there so that was a help, but Rod had gone by then. I would have passed out, so it's just as well. I would still love to meet him, and would love to sit on the Piano Bench while Elton John was playing Sacrifice
