I would love to get into deer stalking, the question is how and where do I start? Is there a specific license I would have to get, and how would stalking work in itself? Would I have to pay each time or is there a subscription based thing?

Hrafn if you want to get in to deer stalking in UK you will need a firearm certificate if you wish to own your own rifle known as an fac (You do not need an fac to go out with a guide using an estate rifle) I would recommend joining a gun club to get range / rifle time, whilst building up experience I would apply for your fac and although not a legal requirement also look at doing DSC1 (Deer stalking certificate) once you have these you have three options.. Find some land to shoot on - very difficult as demand is high Join a syndicate, can be expensive Or if you don’t intend on going many times per year book with a professional guide

Can you clarify something to me If I become a member can I go out by myself or I have to pay someone every time I go out hunting ?

@@robertllubnrut Hi Robert, sorry for the slow reply, as you can imagine much of my time is spent in the field. At any rate, sorry you didn't like the Africa film, its difficult to make everyone happy all of the time, whilst we had plenty of 'likes' and I quite liked the film myself, for the time being, regrettably, due to the contentious nature of anything from Africa we took it down, which is a great shame because I would prefer to reflect all 'walks' from the hunting community.
