I for once actually have a hard time playing a deck (this). I mean sometimes it’s so clear what to do but trying to kill the opponent aswell as doing the quest and sometimes stopping board makes it more complicated than most classes I played. It’s not just dumping stuff on board

Been playing this questline in the lifesteal otk demon hunter it is by far the most fun I've had playing this game in a long time. The cost reductions from the quest is the main thing that helps get to the otk faster its not uncommon to draw 6-7 cards in a turn. The win rate isn't the best id say slightly below 50% because you have to waste some combo pieces to deal with agro but is so satisfying when you pull it off.

I actually made a deck like this before Stormwind, its my Fuck You deck, nothing but disrupt and cost increase cards, Loatheb, Glide, Stelina (golden), Far Watch into outcasted glide, super fun, not super consistent or great, but the point is that even if the opponent wins, the trial was so arduous and annoying they come out feeling the loser

I feel like the only reason why any of these counters to the warlock quest are working is because people aren't playing the warlock deck right (eg it's probably correct to just mull the quest away in some match-ups).

I mean, kinda? The problem isn't necessarily about completing the quest, it's about the fact that a large chunk of their minions being Battlecries, and that their giants rely on those self-damaging Battlecries to be playable. The deck construction itself is weak to Weblord, and pre-quest Darkglare decks had the same issues.

It also means less cards discounted, and in this particular deck, the discounts are what matters, not Kurtus. Also the deck wouldn't be as low to the ground and therefore discounts wouldn't be as helpful, nor would acrobatics.

Denying the Rogue any board presence and increasing the cost of cards drawn was better than getting discounts on the few (low impact) cards Roffle had in hand, he was playing them next turn anyways bar the Murlocs (because of Nerubar).

Probably because people were saying that the reward doesn't matter when your deck's empty and shrugging it off. In reality, the first and second steps rewards, combined with effective cards like Glide make the discounts so effective and worth it. And even then, the reward gets insane with those shenanigans too!

I would have preferred a Chromaggus type effect for the final reward as opposed to just reducing the cost of the 6 or so cards you have left in your deck.

I've mostly played it in standard and the deck I use is heavily built around card draw for big Lion's Frenzy turns and getting the fel support out for early Jace swings/finishers. The first two stages of the quest is what make it so strong in my opinion, with the reward being inconsequential half the time.

The quest is more about the incremental rewards along the way rather than Kurtrus. Plus, Kurtrus can set up Glides to chain draw the rest of your deck for a big Lion’s Frenzy swing for lethal, this has won me a few games.
