I love how asus is really showing support for the ally. It gives me confidence in the future of this device, i just hope they can release another firmware update to fix some of the issues found on 3.19. Besides that though and a few minor gripes here and there, the rog ally is a wonderful device especially for the price. And i cant wait to see what all it can do.

The true way to show support would be to fix the dead zone issue and fix the bios issues. Almost one week since release and there's nothing on those two items yet.

Real support would be improved quality control my first Ally had a broken joystick, the second had a problem with it freezing and constantly shutting down when connected to the charger. I'm currently waiting for the third one. Additionally, they need to release a patch for the BIOS.

I sent the secondary face buttons to : X: F11 Y: alt F4 A: alt enter B: minimize screen This way I’ll never be stuck in an app or maximize, minimize, or close in seconds.

Note that I have heard that it's been heard and is apparently being handled as we speak, and has been for at least 4 days. I hear that it's just a software issue that will be fixed, and has work-arounds for immediate solutions atm, like checking a game pad tester website that auto detects the controller?

Irrespective of all the minor issues that are there in ROG Ally, which will be ironed out in next few months, this device is simply a dream machine for me & also my first Asus/ROG device; a PC & a portable gaming device; it redefines portable computing (which currently Laptops/Mobile phones are king & queen of). I can only imagine what 2nd or 3rd generation of this device will be capable of. Ofcourse, there are other players, but, coming from a known and trusted brand gives that additional reassurance :). Keep doing what you are doing Asus and keep listening to community to improve on this product & market segment.

Armory crate needs the ability to close games out quicker. It also should have the screen on the Ally to dim while gaming on the big screen TV or have the game wallpaper on the Ally while playing game on TV.

I agree about closing it but a fairly quick work around swipe up from the bottom the screen and mouse x on the game it's fairly quick.

Love the Rog Ally, there's a few things I would love to be added to command centers like being able to disable touch screen easy when playing a game, especially games like shooting type of game. Don't really want to go to device manger every time to disable/enable touch screen.

I'm someone that's had professional experience with frametimes, stuttering and configuration on displays - which is why I got the rog in the first place. Unfortunately the freesync capability on all rog ally units I've tested is outright broken. Variable fps @120hz creates a frequent stuttering. Regardless of implementing a framerate cap or not. Yet setting 60hz mode (which disables freesync) allows games to remain smooth as long as they maintain the target 60fps. The fact that so many are overlooking this speaks to the lack of awareness. This issue is not the rog ally running into CPU or wattage limits. The stuttering is coming from the display and freesync. This is not an isolated issue. I hope it's addressed in the future. But it's quite sad how there's literally no awareness around it.

I don;t have the device yet and decided to wait for them to iron some launch issues first but you're right about people just looking past so many obvious issues that are down to poor design choices made on this devices. Valve demonstrated quite well that the way to go with handheld gaming was to make gaming at lower framerates more accessible and feasible for users. The way forward would've been to have VRR like capability at 60 fps or less considering 120 hz is utterly pointless for handheld gaming. A 40Wh battery which lasts about 90 minutes on $700 device which is designed to run at 120Hz but will barely run games at 60fps that come out next year is taking the piss. I'd rather they had set realistic standards-- a decent landscape display that can freesync at lower fps and run current games at 45-60 fps at TDPs

We need a quick way to turn volume up and down. The physical volume rockers are in a horrible location. Using the Command Center is better but still would like a quicker way to adjust volume.

I added volume up/down as the secondary function of the right/left bumpers. Makes it much easier to adjust the volume without having to reposition my hands.

@@ADOS_DSGB I had that happen a few times where it wasn’t working. I had to go into the profile of the game through Armory Crate and make sure that the correct template was applied to the game. Hope this helps.

Hey, enjoying the Ally since launch. I understand it’s still early days and I’m fine with the tradeoff of Win11 to be able to play all the games. Need to report a strange issue I encountered. Had Ally plugged in overnight, I believe in sleep mode, then unplugged it for maybe 30mins, didn’t turn it on immediately. Then when I tried to turned it on, the device wouldn’t turn on. I held the power button down and it eventually powered on. The display scaling was wrong and games wouldn’t launch. Pretty rough experience for someone to encounter. I had to do my own digging on a solution, the myAsus app said everything was fine in the diagnostics. It was not fine. I discovered the AMD Radeon graphics disabled, why? Not sure, I couldn’t download the driver from that myAsus app, had to go to a different website, why? Once I manually reinstalled the AMD Radeon graphics driver manually, all worked normally again. You can see why this is a major problem. 1) shouldn’t happen in first place 2) especially when windows, asus, and armory crate is all updated and said drivers were good 3) how would anyone know what to do when the asus diagnostics says everything is fine. I would have reported the issue in the myAsus app, but there’s no easy place to put customer feedback. These type of glitches need to be squashed to be able to recommend to anyone beyond PC enthusiast. Ok good luck.

Can we please get gyro software already? I want to assign 1 of the macros to hold to activate gyro. It works great ony steam controller, and I really NEED it here on Ally for the games I play. Gyro was one of the primary reasons I pre-ordered the Ally. Without it, I wouldn't have bothered as I already have a GPD Win Max 2. Now I'm kinda disappointed that I can't use the peice of hardware that I know is in there, that pretty much sold me on the device

Got my ROG ally last Saturday..updated ..but still having trouble with my Xbox game pass…I have an Xbox ultimate membership on my series s…however my ally doesn’t seem to have the games I already played on my series s particularly Diablo 4..tried to logging off and on again…still no effect..updated windows and all…don’t know what else is there to do,..I bought my Ally for Diablo 4..but I can’t even see it on my Xbox store…weird and frustrating..

so my ally just started have either a driver or hardware issue where all the game textures are broken. in every game. tried making sure everything was up to date. check. Tried doing the Asus mycloud recovery, same issue. tried a windows 11 os reset. same issue. Tried rolling back drivers. same issue. tried rolling back firmware. same issue. im thinking its a hardware issue. So im going to bestbuy tomorrow to (hopefully) swap it out for another one.

Armoury crate didn't launch after the initial configuration. Tried to remove it and reinstall it, but it didn't fix it. Now I'm trying to reset the whole windows. More than 3 hours trying to fix this. Really, I really had a bad first impression and experience on a premium device.

I love the Ally. But funny how 2 of the shortcuts is to ”fix” the Windows ”features”: 1. lack of keyboard recognizing input fields and 2. to kill applications when they are frozen (like they often do in Windows).. 😆

I wish I could use the crate right button as ''xbox'' ''home'' button. Steam big picture needs this button so bad. This could be replaced in so many other ways like: Combine both menus 1 tap for armory crate SE 2 tap for Crate Menu 1 Tap for Armory crate SE Long press for Crate Menu pressing the two at the same time creating my own macro We need that extra button please give us the choice to personalize it...

For some reason my armoury crate window is bigger than the screen and it won't let me adjust to it's normal size. I think it has something to do with the screen resolution, not sure

It's probably the screen scale in windows display settings. Change it to the recommended value . Hope it helps.

How do we make and use an Xbox / Steam Guide Button?

Creating a secondary function to any button you like in the game profile. For example: I added it to the menu button so now when I press M1 + Menu it's like pressing the Xbox button in a Xbox controller.

​@@meca96 Sadly that doesn't work for me. I set M1 + View = Xbox Button in in the General Profile Gamepad, General Profile Desktop, and Steam Profile. I then tried it in Windows 11 Desktop using all 3x Controller Modes: Auto, Gamepad, and Desktop, and it does not work. I then tried it in Steam using all 3x Controller Modes, and it also doesn't work. Hard to imagine this is faulty hardware but software not playing nice. Do you see any user error in there?

@@ds10484 I remember that I had to disable the Xbox bar too because every time I pressed the "Xbox button" when in Steam Big Picture the Xbox bar appeared/disappeared. Once I disable the Xbox bar and I pressed the button it worked in Steam.

@@meca96 Yeah I did that too! I disabled Xbox Button to open Xbox Game Bar. Then I mapped Xbox Button to Macro+View and Windows+G to Macro+Menu so I could test them both. Macro+View (Xbox Button) never opens Xbox Game Bar now (as it should not) and Macro+Menu (Windows+G) always does open it so I know that part is working.

AND now! I finally figured it out! I had to uninstall / disable Steam > Controller > Xbox Extended Feature Support Driver. Now Steam correctly sees the Macro+View Xbox Button!!! FINALLY
