Robert seems to be one of those guys who doesn't have an enemy in the business and at least comes off as a genuinely good and decent man - despite the business he's in and the accolades he always receives. Most couldn't handle it. He somehow seems to have kept his feet on the ground - just like Roger.

@@timpenfield5I truly like Coverdale and have the Coverdale/Page album. I wish those two had done more. I’ve thought about what happened because Robert did come off as petty, almost jealous. But I haven’t, in all my reading, come across him acting that way prior or since. Driven of course. Restless. But not petty. I think it’s much much deeper than mere jealousy. It had allot to do with Zeppelin, what it had been, what it had meant to them, how dark it had become in the last years for Plant… I cannot get inside his head any more than you or anyone else can, but there were deep and harsh emotions at play. And honestly, I LOVE Coverdale in Whitesnake and in his collab with Page, but I honestly don’t think he has the right style for Zeppelin. Not enough blues in his voice. I do think it’s absurd that they haven’t reconciled as far as I know. And that’s on Robert.
@helenespaulding75623 ай бұрын
@@timpenfield5he reunited because MTV offered him an unplugged gig, and he needed and wanted Page as his collaborator to rework the Zeppelin songs for that format. And don’t forget, Page could have turned him down and continued with Coverdale. His decision showed where his heart lay.
@helenespaulding75623 ай бұрын
@@JJJJJVVVVVLLLLL it’s related I think to the fact that neither Page or JPJ came to his sons funeral. I think that he and Page had a deeper connection that could withstand that hurt but Robert and JPJ did not. Jones has said that he “thought they were friends” but I don’t think Robert ever felt that at any deep level. I do recall an interview circa 2004-2010 that I watched some time ago where JPJ complimented Roberts singing in Zeppelin. Robert about fell off his chair and said something like “that’s the first time you’ve ever said anything like that” . to some degree JPJ kept his distance from all the chaos and hysteria that surrounded Zeppelin, and so didn’t form closer personal bonds.
