The Who performed at Live Aid in front of 72,000 people in Wembley Stadium, London on the 13th July, 1985. Here’s Roger Daltrey being interviewed backstage. The event was organised by Sir Bob Geldof and Midge Ure to raise funds for the Ethiopian famine disaster. Broadcast across the world via one of the largest satellite link-ups of all time, the concerts were seen by around 40% of the global population.

That's a good vid, it's refreshing to see an honest interview... And they did get back together, despite Townshend saying he wished he didn't!

Roger, I was in the Philly crowd and it was hot as hell. Just as we were watching you belt into “Love Rein O’er Me,” on the London video feed, they turned the fire houses on the crowd and it was like heaven. I’ll never forget that moment.

The world should know that you're not just a performer; first and foremost you're a humanitarian! KUDOS! Thanks for sharing your talents and chosing to endure this emotional upset for such a good cause. Blessings upon you and yours.

Great video, I never saw that before. Roger didn't realize at the time The Who would reunite in 1989 for a 25-city tour dubbed The Kids Are Alright Tour: 1964-1989.

In a different interview, with Paul Gambaccini, he stated that he received the call from Bob Geldof 'and he swore at me' - so everyone elaborates a bit ....

@@modo03 Thanks! That's the first time I've heard it since the day. The audio I hear there sounds like audience capture. I think the Band Aid crew filmed it but didn't have high quality audio because of the power cut perhaps?
