Last night this song popped up in my head and I had to play it. Easily one of the classics from a great era of days gone by!

It was late Nov 1981 and I was in a chartered plane taking off from an Air Force base in the Philippines on my way to San Diego, Calif for US Navy boot camp. Then I heard this song for the first time and really felt the lyrics and just remembered my mother and father and what they have sacrificed for me and the rest of my siblings! After more than 3 decades, it has been a great journey so far. I will forever be thankful to both my parents! You're always in my heart and mind!

Sometimes the mood strikes to take off the rock and roll shoes and mellow out now and then. Roger delivers nicely here and I find myself humming this from time to time. Bandmate Peter Townshend did the same thing the same year with "Let My Love Open the Door" which reached #9 in the USA. What I don't understand is how 43 years have gone by so quickly.

Hard to imagine that this beautiful, peaceful song was sung by one of the wild men in Rock 'n' Roll, Mr. Roger Daltrey. Considering The Who's antics on stage. I love this song.
indeed so meaningful - but what does it mean without "your love"

This song and "Everybody's Gotta Learn Sometime" by The Korgis are the soundtrack to my life in the Fall of 1980. Just married, still enjoying the honeymoon period. Beautiful. Then life went on and I learned to hate that person.....and she did the same for me. We made it quite easy for each other. Now I have another life, with other lovely theme songs. But this one's still in my historical archive, and in my heart. Beautiful.

I'm glad you put the song up, but oh, man, you really blew the lyrics, though. You can show me the way Give me a sunny day But what does it mean Without your love And if I could travel far If I could touch the stars Where would I be Without your love Whenever I get to feeling Down and out I think about what you said And then I'd give out And if I could fly away If I could sail today Where would I go Without your love You can show me the way And give me a sunny day But what does it mean Without your love And if I could travel far If I could touch the stars Where would I be Without your love And if I ever wonder away Too far You'd come looking for me with Open arms I could forget my home Be like a rolling stone But who would I be Without your love And what does it mean Without your love Where would I be?
