Roger's Open the Door album was released in Europe in 2000 and was number one in Switzerland for 3 weeks. Hodgson co-founded Supertramp with Rick Davies, in 1969, and was the heart and soul of the band for 14 years. He played a major role in producing all the Supertramp albums released during the "Golden Years" of the band (up to 1983 when he left).
Open The Door is a brilliant album for Roger, filled with his same magic touch for melody, catchy hooks, and powerful, dramatic rock that made his work with Supertramp so special.
"Along Came Mary" for me is a highlight of the album. The melodies are rich and supple.
Great songs from end to end, like the beautiful "Along Came Mary," the poppish "Hungry," the simple-but-memorable "The Garden," and the awesome extended pieces, "Death And A Zoo" and the title song, the latter of which reminds me of Roger's old Supertramp favorite, "Fool's Overture." Hodgson's classic falsetto voice remains in pristine condition, his playing & songwriting simply wonderful.
Roger is on tour and shows are selling out. Go to his tour page to see his latest concert schedule: www.rogerhodgso... or events at / rogerhodgson .

I just saw him and his great band last night at Snoqualmie Casino, WA. Wow! As a kid, I would listen to my older sister's records. It's always nice to hear a song from one of your favorite bands that you've never heard of before. This is that "hidden gem."

Another amazing song from Roger. Open the Door is filled with hit song after hit song. I wish his solo work was more well known. I love all the songs he wrote when he was with Supertramp and then he continued to make these beautiful songs and I love his Classic's Live CD. Thanks for touring Roger and all the forms you give us music.

Compared to the population of the world, there are only a hand full of people that can really make a positive difference in someone’s life, and Roger Hodgson is one of them. His work, not only his voice, but everything he does. What a talented soul. I try to compare this with some of my favorites, but now this is my favorite. Thanks and I wish I could compensate you more. But all I got is Genius, WOW, Thank You and I will see you in Seattle.

Saw Roger a few years back and he played this song. It stuck out more than any of the others. I love how the song builds. His timing on guitar playing that picking pattern the entire song is pretty impressive.

Was alone then along came Mary Hair of gold and lips like cherries Was amazed when she stole my thunder Filled my world with the ways of wonder Come away, come away with me Far away where the eyes can't see Come away to another time Pardon me if you lose your mind Who are you now? Who makes the rules? Follow your heart and get back... Won't you get back... Oh get back Was alone then along came Mary Hair of gold and lips like cherries Was amazed when she stole my thunder Filled my world with the ways of wonder Come away come away with me Far away where the eyes can't see Come away to another time Pardon me if you lose your mind Pardon me if you lose your mind Pardon me if you lose - if you lose your mind
