God bless Roger Moore! An outstanding actor, a marvelous James Bond, and a perfection gentleman! Such bearing and grace are not found in many these days, such are the self-centered, rude, and coarse human beings.

Excellent! Enjoyed this thoroughly . Brilliant story, I have read quite a few Jack Higgins and are always thoroughly absorbing . The narration by Sir Roger Moore was fantastic as we're his accents of the characters in the story . Performed wonderfully. Could listen to this again and again . Thank you!

Glad you enjoyed it. What I recommend is to choose anything even remotely interesting and listen for 10 minutes. Usually by then you'll know if you want to keep listening. P.S. I hope the demon overlord didn't find you messing with his computer and dipping your paws into the fish tank. :-)

I was surprised myself by how good his reading performance was. Sometimes you realize how talented an actor is by seeing or hearing them perform outside of what they are best known for.

I remember when I was a very small girl. A German pilot has bailed out of his plane above our church somewhere. Unfortunately his parachute didn't open and he came down at an angle into the church wrought iron gates. Sliced him up like a kipper. Terrible. Never forget that.

ATROCITY PROPAGANDA - " Atrocity propaganda is how we won the war. And we're only really beginning with it now ! We will continue this atrocity propaganda, we will escalate it until nobody will accept even a good word from the Germans, until all the sympathy they may still have abroad will have been destroyed and they themselves will be so confused that they will no longer know what they are doing. Once that has been achieved, once they begin to run down their own country and their own people, not reluctantly but with eagerness to please the victors, only then will our victory be complete. IT WILL NEVER BE FINAL. Re-education needs careful tending, like an English lawn. Even one moment of negligence, and the weeds crop up again - those indestructible weeds of historical TRUTH. " - SeftonDalmer (1904-1979), former British Chief of ' Black Propaganda ': Said after the German surrender in 1945 in a conversation with the German Professor of lnternation Law Dr.FriedrichGrimm.

Not bad, but some of the elements of this plot are ludicrous, the lack of caution demonstrated by the main protagonists ( who are supposed to be intelligence professionals ) is just unbelievable, again and again they partake in actions that make little sense ( they leave their seaplane unattended , they leave the girl who knows where the sub is unprotected after the opposition are killing off people with wild abandon, once they have the documents they take zero precautions to stop it being stolen , there are no agents to back them up yet this is a vital operation ... why? ) there are so few precautions taken its obvious they are simply just there to act as plot devices. This is just sloppy writing. Cant agree that Moore does a good job, much of the time during the action scenes he runs sentences into each other, timing is everything, in this case, its absent about 20% of the time. hes not bad, but he could have done a much better job.
@johnmcdonough955
@johnmcdonough955 Жыл бұрын
I agree it is an hodgepodge story because of the lack of the correct precautions of the protagonists. I do not agree that Sir Roger did any other than his best and his best is more than good enough for an abridged version. However it must have offended his sense for the storyline. The Saint would not have made such gaffs and Bond would have laughed at such incompetence.
