Thank you very much, and I subscribed. LOL Roger drops S- and MF-bombs in a dialect that would now be considered racist, and it didn't even get censored? Anyway, I always liked _Radio K.A.O.S._ and I wish more people understood, it had to sound contemporary in 1986 to make the most impact. It had nothing to do with Pink Floyd. It had to sound like it could be a real radio station, so you could believe: "They pressed the button, Jim" "You mean THE button?" "The big. Red. One. Goodbye Jim." If you were alive and intelligent in 1986, it worked very well, and even better in concert. You had to feel like nuclear annihilation could be imminent. And you had to have a sense of humor about it!

@@samreds8107 Lol. 'Dogs of War' was written by Polly Samson (David Gilmour's wife) in 1987, 4 years after Roger had ended Pink Floyd, it was a lame attempt to mimic Waters' aggressive war themed hits. The second part you elude to was originally written by George Orwell as 'Animal Farm', Waters adapted it for the 'Animals' album in 1977. *"We are a nation of Sheep, ran by Pigs & policed by Dogs"*

What I gather from this is, that at the time of this interview, Roger Waters was not interested in a political discussion, as he is nowadays. Earlier in his career, he was simply interested in talking up his music.

@Yungrexy
@Yungrexy Жыл бұрын
So you only listened to the first 5 minutes then! Roger Waters has been politics all the way from Corpral Clegg to this very day. *Dark Side of the Moon* (1973) is all about the political system causing the class divide and how it all sends you insane. *Wish You Were Here* (1975) is about the politics of the music industry and how it can send them (Syd) insane. *Animals* (1977) is literally an adaptation of 'Animal Farm' by George Orwell (we are a nation of *Sheep,* ran by *Pigs* & policed by *Dogs).* *The Wall* (1979) is about WWII & how it affected him, the family structure & the nation as a whole. *The Final Cut* (1983) is about the Falkands war and the threat of nuclear holocaust. *When the Wind Blows* (1986) & *Radio KAOS* (1987) are both also about Nuclear war and the distractions of MSM & TV. *Amused to Death* (1992) is about the 1st Gulf war, televised warfare and religious zealotry. *Is This The Life We Really Want?* (2017) All of the above with drone-warfare and international terrorism thrown into the mix. Tell me again how politics is just a recent trend with the famously anti-war, anti-fascist, anti-capitalist Roger Waters.

Roger that goes around the world filling stadiums & delivering his message year after year even to this day... The activist that speaks at political summits/conventions and campaigns for the release of jailed journalists/musicians... A man who has spent a 55 year international career calling out the world goverments in speeches/interviews and via some of the biggest selling albums of all time... Is an armchair politician? Make it make sense, dude. The man is a geopolitical prophet.

I'm well versed in PF. I consider myself a historian on PF. I was being sarcastic. I'm not sure the context that made me post that specific comment but I'm with you. Waters is one the all time great songwriter/lyricists. A true recording studio architect. I think o was responding to someone else's comment.

DG's music on the other hand well i wont comment on that .

@@peteytwofinger Floyd without Waters is so tame and lame, Waters without Floyd still has the trippy sound, gritty lyrics and punchy delivery that made floyd so good in the first place. ATD is a masterpiece imo, P&C is a really cool surreal dreamstate interlude but I personally Love Radio K.A.O.S and *When the Wind Blows* which was still noodling on the themes from TFC. Some tracks from WTWB actually work as an extension/addition to both The Final Cut & Radio K.A.O.S albums. ATD was a natural progression from there I feel. Wish he had done more in the 90s & 00s but I think he was somewhat dejected by the undue adulation poured upon his old band and the antipathy shown towards his new one. *The Bleeding Hearts Band* were lowkey one of the finest touring superbands of the 80s/90s with millions of records sold between them in their respective music careers.
@madcap_9539
@madcap_9539 Жыл бұрын
@@YungrexyThe loss of money in both the Pros and Cons and KAOS shows definitely hurt Rog a lot cause that's most definitely the reason why he didn't tour for Amused to Death. There's an interview from the 90s where he says if ATD reaches a certain amount of sales he'd tour for it but it unfortunately didn't until I think the late 90s. It's a damn shame his tours warent very successful cause from what I've heard from bootlegs, they seem to be more of what Pink Floyd would have been in the 80s (with Roger) as a natural progression from the Wall tour.
