At 12:45, the mentioned “vision” of one person guiding the project at hand, i.e. the creator of the work at hand is the one that is supposed to guide the rest of the musicians in order to complete or accomplish the artistic vision of the creator/writer. This is what Clapton understood and told Waters “tell me what you want me to do.” And, this is what freaking Gilmour never understood and chose to argue and attempt to interject his opinions (which usually weren’t very good) which led to friction between Waters.

Oh i love listening to his voice in this interview and the way he explains what he´s going through…. The division of PF, the Separation.... standing suddelny alone…. It must have been a huge terrible impact in his private and musician life. It literally hurts listening to it. 😩😩😩 Thank You so much "Mudman" for Posting. A very precious Audio! 👍

Completely agree. He is truly one of the all-time great writers in rock. An bona fide genius. However, he did seem to be quite angry and difficult in his youth. Funny thing is how he has mellowed significantly in his older age while Gilmour seems to have only grown bitter and impenetrably stubborn in his older age...still blocks Waters from any access to official Pink Floyd online content...but many ppl still view Waters as difficult and Gilmour as kind and enlightened

This is really interesting because I have a different edit of the same interview recorded onto tape directly off Radio 1 in 1984. Your version has a fair few things which mine doesn't, such as the racism references and Roger's dislike of music marketing trends etc. I haven't listened to mine for years but it has some content which is missing from yours -- I remember when Skinner talks about the other band members having done their solo albums ten years ago, before asking, "What was that album where you all did one side each...?" Roger replies, "Ummagumma. What a disaster!" Also then there's when Roger says, "Back in the old days, we tried to have hit singles. There were a number of attempts... one called Apples and Oranges which Syd wrote... and another which I wrote, or maybe Dave and I wrote it, called Point Me At The Sky..." He goes on to recount some of PMATS's bizarre lyrics before saying "...it became clear that we were just no bloody good at it!" They then play the whole of Point Me At The Sky, the only copy which I have of it. I will make a point of posting my interview here some time in future. Watch this space...

If you think the left wing fully supports 3rd wave feminists (or satanic panic & pearl clutching back then), you've unfortunately been sorely misguided. The left is mainly about economic policy. The only reason all these movements appear on the left is because conservatives are assholes who reject anyone too different while the left does not and is more inclusive. If anything, they take away from the class issues (the real struggle that affects us all) by latching onto social issues (a niche struggle that only affects a subsect)

Roger Waters is a musical genius, and that's the problem. He thinks its his way or the high way and that's why he almost killed Pink Floyd. Waters music only emphasize the problems with life. There is never anything positive except "The Tide Is Turning (After Live Aid)". I like all Pink Floyd records but the least enjoyable are Animals, The Wall and The Final Cut. They are depressing whine fests that offer little enjoyment except the great music. After saying that, those three records are good and I listen to them often. However true Pink Floyd to me is Atom Heart Mother, Dark Side, Wish You Where here and The Division Bell. Not to exclude the other ones because David Gilmours On An Island is fantastic.
@sirmoanalot37793 жыл бұрын
‘The Wall’ is one of the greatest albums to ever be written. It’s still got “Floyd” splattered all over it but has a bitter sweet cynicism and mental health overtones throughout to display Rogers insecurity’s and separation from the band. ‘Animals’ is phenomenal, musically. I also love the tone of the theme and lyrics. ‘The Final Cut’ is a piece that has grown on me over the years to the point that I would count that as my top 5 Floyd albums. It’s not too “Floydian” but it’s very special, I feel. I do agree that there aren’t many “Perky” Roger Waters songs. The issue I have with Dave Gilmours work is that it doesn’t have any edge or bite. It’s dreamy, melodic and sounds beautiful but it doesn’t have anything to say. That’s why Pink Floyd were the full package when they all pulled together as team.
