Though the other guys probably realized it Syd wouldn’t and couldn’t come back. He developed schizophrenia and it seems he refused treatment. That illness, even today, is very hard to live with. 💎

He was never diagnosed with that, pure speculation . i believe the only thing he was diagnosed with is a personality disorder

Yeh I remember watching an interview with Mason talking about the last days with Barrett in the band. He was talking about Syd's decline, and about how they just never bothered to go round and pick him up for gigs....he was actually laughing when he was telling the story, something I always found very cold, and very telling if I'm honest 🙄✌️

In that picture of Syd in the studio, the one of him during the Wish You Were Here sessions, you see him with something on his ear and something drizzled on his cheek. Can anyone suggest what that might be? 🤔

I think it's A.I. making him look like he's crying, A.I. does weird things to pictures. But it also could be a wire for headphones

A big part of syds problem im afraid was having to deal with Waters....

The hassle with Syd must have been necessary to create albums like Meddle / Darkside / Wish you where here. I think Pink Floyd's sweet spot is between Syd leaving and Roger leaving.

The healthy Syd Barrett was very creative. He wrote 52 songs. When he was thrown out of Pink Floyd, unfortunately he didn't learn from it!!! He continued to take drugs on his two solo albums. In 1974 he recorded the guitar piece Lanky 🎸. After that he didn't do anything else. The last documentary is boring. It doesn't show anything new!!! Nobody knows exactly how Syd lived from 1975 to 2006. I'm interested in how Syd lived with his illness??? What was Syd Barrett like as a person???? How long did he battle his drug addiction??? Was Syd in a psychiatric hospital??? Why did he live in such isolation??? He painted pictures and burned them in his garden. Syd said of himself: I'm just vegetating. That explains the catatonia. His illness. The Barrett family doesn't say anything about it... Not even his sister Rosmary Breen. Embarrassing moments aren't discussed. A sad story.

Maybe he took anti psychotic medication later. He became fat so that can be a result of medication.

What waters should talk more is about the pathetic sad loser truth of Roger Waters.

Syd was betrayed by Waters, Norman Smith and People around him that wouldn’t leave him alone and let him rest properly they were all obsessed with him. His Girlfriends cheated on him as well he became depressed and felt no one was understanding his artistic vision this and the pressure to do what others wanted of him led to him to doing more drugs and to withdraw. The Mandrax and LSD hurt him a lot is why he couldn’t recover and be well. His mind didn’t need drugs after a certain point his mind was creative and open as it would ever need to be the drugs he used were him trying to escape and caused depression and a split personality disorder and a cognitive decline he knew they were getting rid of him and he didn’t care anymore. Jugband Blues was his way of saying I know what you think and I don’t care and I’m well aware of who writes the songs and see ya! Waters ,Wright and Mason thought Syd was being a smart ass to them and Norman Smith and the record label people that’s why they were really fed up with him I have seen quotes from Mason saying that. They started to ignore him more and more and thought he was doing it all on purpose.
