I will use your testimony to make a point about BOTH of them. They would quibble over how Nick should play the drums for a certain part of a song, and ultimately it was things like this which led to their breakup. Imagine if they just let Nick, who is the expert on the drums, decide how he thought the drums should be played and they left it at that? My understanding is that the differences would be so small that you'd probably not notice them, unless someone pointed them out on recordings with the slight differences they were fighting over. When I thought about how insulting this would've been to Nick, I realized that BOTH of them were lucky to be working with two other guys in Nick and Richard, who were obviously more about the music and the band, and less about themselves. Truthfully, I hope they both apologized to their bandmates while they still had a chance. I think that in the end it became a fight about ego, control, and ultimately money. It is sad considering those 3 things tend to ruin most good things. Thanks for your post.

Roger's problem is he thought he could assume leadership of the band once Syd was no longer able to function, as he was arguably second in command. Problem was he wasn't an accomplished musician at the time, let alone songwriter, which made David the obvious choice for musical direction. The bands first two albums without Syd were jumbled messes, but you heard glimpses of what they eventually would become soon after. To Rogers credit, he made himself into a great lyricist and composer and came up with material that complemented Gilmours. On the rare moments the two could put their egos and creative differences aside, they made absolute magic together. Unfortunately, it was never enough for either. There was always this push/pull between them with each feeling they knew what was best for a partricular song or album. That friction produced some absolute brilliant material, but it also led to the bands ultimate demise. If the two of them could have worked more in tandem as Lennon/McCartney, Plant/Page, Townsend/Daltry and John/Taupin did they would have been unstoppable. They were always better together than they were apart, but they were too damn stubborn and prideful to put their differences aside for the greater good of the band.

As awesome as a lead guitar player & vocalist as Gilmour is, Roger Waters is the one who took the broken reigns from Syd when Syd got too ill to carry on and became Pink Floyds best song writer and without him Gilmour, Wright & Mason most likely would not had became the stars they did as just because you are a great guitarist, keyboardist or drummer doesnt make you successful as nobody eants to hear just your talent on your instrument they want great songs and that requires a song writer and Waters was a great song writer, better than Syd in my opinion but none the less Gilmour is awesome but Roger Waters ruined absolutely nothing as he is the one that saved the sinking ship of Pink Floyd once Syd could not be its main song writer anymore, so where I like Gilmour And Waters and respect both, Waters is & will always be Pink Floyd to me, as he has had no problem finding great guitar players who can match Gilmour on his solo work like Snowy White, Jeff Beck and Eric Clapton while Gilmour can write great songs they are one great song per 8 filler songs where Waters wrote very few fillers in my opinion, In my mind I could replace Gilmour with another great guitarist, not that i would want to, but can not think of anyone to ever replace Waters as he is Pink Floyd, "By the way Which One is Pink" I have always thought Roger is Pink and Syd & Gilmour are secondary

Roger Waters IS Pink Floyd. David Gilmore is a replacement guitarist.

It's all about money. This is a common story among every band in history who got rid someone who helped found the band. Just like KiSS, Iron Maiden, Motley Crue, Guns 'n Roses, Megadeth, Metallica and so many more. But Gilmore is Pink Floyd now. Not waters. Waters is just jealous of the bands success without him, because he thought Pink Floyd was his baby. But too bad, so sad. He abandoned his baby. So Gilmore adopted the band and became the new father of the band. In doing so he and the other band members have got rich and famous. So Waters just became a side note now. So now, even though Waters hasn't contributed a thing to the band's success since the mid 80s. Now Waters wants a piece of that action after almost 40yrs. It's the same old story. Greed, Envy and jealousy.

The two of them are relics of the past, making money of their iconic music of the 70's. Who listen to their solo new music?

21:12 You might've used the wrong examples here, 'Comfortably Numb' and 'Wish You Were Here' are on the setlist of the Luck & Strange Tour.

Thank you for pointing that out. This video released a day ago obvs. didn't look at the set list.

@@acmejia Ahhh understandable! I knew because Comfortably Numb was used in the online promotion of the tour, and he confirmed the setlist during the rehearsal shows in Brighton a bit earlier. :)

Such a shame that the band that gave us Live from Pompeii ended up like this.

People like to downplay Roger's importance as just being a lyricist and that's where all of those people are dead wrong. He was never a vocalist, nor guitar player but he sure is a composer. Like it or not (or continue to be ignorant) that's a BIG difference. Fancy solos are fantastic David is a monster in doing that but that was actually his job. AND whether you want to accept it or not, once Roger left floyd, that's when a statement was made. What did David and Mason do after? They release 2 albums. Yes, only 2 albums, one that doesnt sound like anything PF and the other with some great songs but that was IT! Gilmour carried over with the success of the name of the band on his back and capitalize with it when going solo.

There's no inch in my heart with doubt that Samson is behind Gilmour's media accounts. Roger is wrong about David believing he is PF, Polly actually believes she is. I see her as PF's Yoko Ono.
