Dr Hale. Many thanks.I started using your warm ups a few months ago with my 2 choirs. My choirs are amateur and some of the aural tests they struggle with but everything else has really helped. We entered the Cornwall International Male Festival (Male Choir)and we came 5th out of 16 . Maybe others might say so what? But we were only 16 singing and we were up against it with choirs from Eastern Europe and choirs with 60 singing.I also entered them in the Llandudno Choral festival where they came 4th with only a point in between and my female choir came 2nd!So thank you very much. The biggest help too was learning how to relax before singing.

Thank you for this extended warmup video, I like the fact that you do most exercises so we can follow. I have an issue with having to make sounds, without knowing how it sounds. This is also the main reason why I can’t learn a song, based on the music only, I have to hear it sung first to be able to do the same. In this instance I am referring to the *do re me fa sol la si/ti do* exercise.

Hello Mr. Rogers, I have a quick question on singing intervals. For me it is much easier to find intervals going up, but when singing intervals going down I get confuse whem inverting the intervals and more when singing. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Many Thanks. 🎶
@RogerHale4 жыл бұрын
@Jose Armando Pecina, That seems to be the issue all of my students face too. Here is one resource that may help to begin hearing them. www.musictheory.net/exercises/ear-interval/998nyyngneyyyyyy. Next I would try to figure out the harmonic context for descending intervals. For example a minor 6th down in a major scale is going to be DO down to MI, or a minor 7th DO down to RE. This doesn't change if you are in a major key. I hope that this is helpful to you.

Dr. Hale, what note range do you warm up a choir with (SATB). From low to high. I've been asked to conduct a choir and don't know where to start and end notes. Like what you're playing on the piano
@RogerHale2 жыл бұрын
I usually start With c major and then keep going until I hear singers begin to lose the vocal quality. I encourage singers be self-aware and change octaves when needed.

Sir.. I'm having trouble in getting Vibrato in my upper register near G4,A4,Bb4,B4
@RogerHale4 жыл бұрын
As you develop your lower-mid range singing your upper range will free up too and vibrato will begin to flow. It is important that you try to stay loose in your upper range when the tendency is to tighten up when we sing high. Make sure the back of your neck is tall. Bobble-head a little prior to singing. I hope this helps.
