Ive been speaking to my Bisayan GF for over four years bow after meeting online and in person.. I feel blessed to have been accepted by her family and have been given the fantastic nickname of "Creepy White Guy" by her cousins, I am aware this is just asar and I speak to them whilst video chatting but they do like to make fun of me.. which I suppose is a way of treating me like family.. But Id be deeply offended if this term was used about me by strangers.. good hob Im a gentleman and have learned to speak a bit of Bisaya which helps when meeting new people .. cannot wait to get back in May

It’s a good tip on avoiding the exotic word. I will say this that many Filipinos do know the American meaning for this word as being uniquely beautiful. The problem is that since there is a negative local interpretation of the word, you just can’t use it. It’s like if the word pretty meant ugly. Even after they know, their brain still thinks ugly when you say pretty. Personally, I tease my wife with the word exotic. She knows that it’s “sizzling hot, sexy and naturally beautiful”. What’s different about the Filipinos is that you can physically compliment them without them feeling objectified. They go through a lot of work to take care of themselves and look nice. They deserve to be complimented so it’s nice that we can express appreciation for their beauty to them. Just be discreet and polite. If the girl is super outgoing and funny, you can use a little more humor and flattery. It depends on the girl so just use common sense judgment. In the US we know that we can’t physically compliment a woman. It p@sses me off just thinking about how much I resent not being able to compliment a woman. Never, ever put up with that. Just date normal women, wherever you can find them.

First part I respecfully disagree. I met my wife by BOLDLY walking up to her singing in her language at the top of my voice, whilst in a Supermarket. She loved it she said ;when I saw you approach me, all i saw was a good looking, intelligent, confident and VERY creative man expressing interest in a unique way.' I was part shocked, embarrased but very very flattered when you introduced yourself by singing in my language and you don't have a bad voice either' I replied:' you must be tone deaf! :p'' In my view expressing yourself confidently (but not arrogant) and in a creative way breaks the ice.
@thedreamer9011 Жыл бұрын
I don't understand why you disagree with Roger&Ismi. Based on your own explanation, you didn't just whistle, you sang in her own language which Roger&Ismi mentioned as a good thing. You also said that she was embarrassed which tells me that's not the norm when approaching a Filipina. What worked out for you was the fact that your wife now, found you attractive and you had a good singing voice. I'm sure if it was the other way around, she would've feel disrespected. Same in the West, if you're attractive, you're not a creep, but if you're unattractive, you are a creep. P.S: Filipinas like when a man showing interest by singing to them.
@theSFCchannel Жыл бұрын
@@thedreamer9011 Actually no: Looks only get you so far: But it doesnt lead to a longterm stable marrage, being a ptoprt man does and stuff this new-man rubbish as that was just invented by a bloke who can't get any Matress Mambo. Its about being confident weather one is Gwapo or not, when time goes on and looks fade into maturity then one must have something else that is attractive.. For example I only gave my wife two promises that I will also be true to her and that she will NEVER be bored. What one person finds attractive another may not, so if looks are only a tiny factor then other things must come into play. I met her in my early fourties and she is 15 years younger than me and at the time a PHD qualified doctor also showd interest in her, but she married me as simply I know Existential Philosophy and am cultured. But then again what can I say' The Proof of the pudding is in the eating' and we have been married for 7 years with a child together.So we must be doing something right :P
@theSFCchannel Жыл бұрын
@@thedreamer9011 IN good looking to a Fillipina is very rarely about physical looks. Good looking also means, cultured it could also mean intellitent or educated it could also mean a confident person. You could have all the physical looks in the world but if you dont have it 'all going on in other things' then you will have nothing. PLus I am British anyway so cultured and learned is more or less a given-unless one is a CHAV. I have seen what one could call ugly gargoyle-like short men whom, barely have a penny to rub together with another, being married to long tall statuesque women and what attracted their partners was confidence and culture. As I said CONFIDENCE is good looking, being cultured is good looking, knowing other languages other than your own is good looking, being interested in their culture that is finding out for ones self without relying on KZbin channels to tell you, is good looking. Being outgoing and extrovert is often seen as good looking. Physical looks are only a tiny little doorway and nothing else. Even all the above is only a gateway but what actually won her over at the end is knowing AND understanding the works of Cammus, Kirgegaard, Neitszche, Jean Paul Satre, Colin Wilson (The Outsider) Fyodor Dostoevsky to other completely differing topics to Fred Hoyle and DR Chamdara Our Place in the Cosmos, to knowing massive parts of the Ancient Sumerian language and culture (having been on archaeological tours in Iraq). Looks are only a tiny doorway but it by NO MEANS wins the other person over in the long term. Of course my wife has much to teach me also, she compliments me I am more driven, egotistical and extrovert whilst she is more reserved and patient. We compliment each other THAT is what makes a marragie last. She has taught me to stop and take a breath, I have taught her to stand up and be counted and stand up for herself. She is the stability whilst I am the ambition and change, its a good marraige. Plus she knows I metaphorically worship the ground she walks on and it is well and truly returned as we both won each other's respect. Please consider this in the future.

I been there. In the United States we taught as a man to protect by means verbal or physical but it definitely can put fear into a filipina. So we definitely need to be very cautious and know when is right time to go into protection mode. My situation was a little different. We was in the states and a homeless addict was threatening some kids in a store well the kids I didn't know but never the less they was kids. I was not going to allow this. I raised my voice but made it worse the man tried to attack me. Luckily I had trained in Kajukenbo for many years. Before I knew it my wife was crying. In one hand I felt bad because she was crying and afraid on the other hand I knew I did the right thing keeping the kids safe.

Great video. More don'ts would be useful. I discovered that a beckoning sign with the hand is offensive to Filipinos. I am not sure why. It's those small every day things that have a different meaning that can ruin a day or even a relationship. We all assume the other person knows what we mean and sometimes we are just wrong. HAHAH I made a mistake with my wife a few months ago whislt we were in Malta (somehow it ended up good) Now we were all sitting (her friends and I) at a cafe in the outdoors part and underneath the table was a bouquet of flowers i had bought that was intended as a surpirse for my wife. Anyway as we were eating along comes a young Italian actor couple arguing whilst winding through the tables, throwing their hands in the air and being all very dramatic. When they got to the other side the stopped acting the arguement and sat down, I suddenly leaped to my feet, clapped and shouted BRAVO BRAVO and threw the bouquet of flowers (that was supposed to be a surprise for me wife) at them. Now looking around the table whilst I was sat there were looks of shock and horror on their face and I said' what? WHAT they were acting it was a bit forced and dramatic but i thought they were pretty good' To which they replied 'They aren't actors they were are REAL couple arguing..........then my mouth fell open and then it was the turn of my wife and her friends to laugh at my mistake. Wifey then said it is this sense of fun and 'never a boring day' is why I married you.

I like your videos guys, are so entertaining and also informative at the same time... @Roger... bro'... I heard you also on your stream - I hope your daughter is already feeling better - I hear you associating winking to a girl with flirting, you said it's like flirting... well, we should define what flirting means, to avoid confusion... in the west, flirting means showing attraction and/or trying to attract someone, and that is indeed very similar to winking in the west, which also means showing attention and trying to attract attention, so you can eventually start flirting... when I say flirting, I mean with good honest intentions, for real, not just for the fun of it, or with malicious intentions... so, to conclude, OK, winking may be perceived in your culture, as weird and maybe creepy - even if it's not - but what is wrong with flirting..??.. smiling at a woman, trying to attract her, being attracted to her, and making her compliments, that's all part of flirting, so I don't really get it, Roger, when you say: "winking is like flirting"...ok, so what? what's wrong with flirting?? just by making a woman a compliment, that's flirting in and of itself, so it's nothing wrong with that... well unless she's married or already in a committed relationship, but you get my point, if she's single and available if I compliment her, I am already flirting with her by default... so, maybe you should define what "flirting" means in your culture... in the west, it's nothing wrong with flirting, when done with true intentions of course...how else we'd show interest to a woman, if not by flirting with her, which includes smiling, making her compliments and such things...
@rashidswaleh1933 Жыл бұрын
