What always hurts me the most about the end of this season (Which I consider individually the peak of all avatar animated content; I believe the kyoshi books are peak together, but alone this season is the best) is the scene of jinhora becoming a master. I think the words used paint such a beautifully tragic picture. "We welcome the first master of a generation." I can only ever imagine Aang, the sole airbender, doing this for a young Tenzin. Sure there are air acolytes and other people there, but Aang, for the first and only time in the history of the Air nation, has to ring the bells alone for his son. Thinking about this breaks me every single time. This scene is so beautiful in a season that is so masterfully written and animated. Roger have you heard the complete history of this show's production? It's incredibly sad to hear from the studio and creators that brought you ATLA. A TLDR is that it started as a fun 1 of season, then a 6 month turn around season 2, to a sudden renewal of two seasons, only to be pseudo canned with the budget cut in half and the show thrown onto Nick Online (IN 2014 mind you). The fact that this absolute gem came out of this trainwreck of a production is nothing short of a testament to the writer's understanding of this world. Zaheer is the GOAT villain. Su is best girl. Lavabending is peak. The red lotus have the best fights in the series it's barely close.

Oh the Kyoshi books are perfect and rank right there as one of the best seasons of Avatar for me! It makes me so disappointed the new movies are sticking with Aang and not adapting the other Avatars

Zaheer being able to fly is actually really well explained, Guru Lahima was able to because he had no attachments, and Zaheer made it after they killed his only attachment, boom booom lady

There is a reason that this season is singled out as PEAK Avatar! Kind of sad that the poor reception of these videos might have soured the enjoyment a bit, but I'm glad to see Roger can still at least crack a joke at the beginning! Glad you liked this season and are liking Legend of Korra! :)

The horrible viewership for this series hasn't soured my view of the series at all; in fact it's opened my eyes to how much a lot of people blindly hate and don't want to support to Korra despite it being such a fun show. After the Book 4 video, I'll most likely be done with doing any type of Avatar content again but I don't regret the ride one bit.

The fact that Earth-bending has 3 different sub-sets (metal, lava & sand) could be a cool set-up for the next Avatar series. an earth bending avatar that can do all of those earth techniques to keep the new independent states of the deformed Earth Kingdom

Aang’s sole duty was to the world, per Yangchen. The Avatar will never be able to fly because of that attachment. Also, Aang was obligated to procreate.

As for Zaheer flying: if you look back at the avatar Wang flashback from book 2: all air benders used to be able to fly! But over time they connected to something that made them lose that ability: their bisons. So it's a popular theory that airbenders lost the ability to fly because of their connection to their bisons.

I remember watching this weekly. Season 2 divided and warded off so many viewers, Nick forced 2 episodes a week and then pulled the series from air to online-only in the middle, and in spite of all that, this was when people started saying Korra was actually good. Even some saying it was better than the original Avatar... And we can attribute most of those accolades to Zaheer.

One of my favorite things about TLOK is how it’s able to take a lot of the concepts of ATLA and play with them and expand on them. It’s also a lot more direct with how it portrays its villains whereas ATLA had to adjust a lot of its messages to make them understandable for kids. I wouldn’t say that Korra is more serious, but it is less sugar-coated

Merphy and I were discussing in the DMs after the last video about how badly Korra has performed on the channel and any additional content beyond the reactions to Korra's 4 seasons simply would not be worth the time investment. korra is so damn powerfull that every fight she’s in they have to nerf her or else it wouldn’t be that much of a battle.. i mean look at her fighting like that with poison running through her veins! My girl collapsed an entire cave AFTER being poisoned and Zaheer had to give his everything to fight her (he mostly ran) while she was slowly dying of poison. In another instance she fought formidably with handcuffs on too! Poor korra going through the most 😭

I think something people miss with Zaheer is that Aang most likely would have gained the flying power if he followed through and let of Katara in book 2. It's almost like they're are confirming Aang made the right choice since you'd have to be a hearltess person to detach yourself from the world like that.

Korra had the makings to be great but nickelodeon kept getting in the way. Season 3 was arguably the best season because nickelodeon stepped aside. They gave Bolin a much needed character boost while my man mako stagnated until the end when he fried that chick.
