Yeah it definitely seems like after *events from later seasons* the white lotus tried way to hard to protect Korra, overcorrecting and making it so she was robbed of the worldly experiences she needs as the avatar. In fact, the reason she struggles with the spiritual side could be partially attributed to her extreme isolation and never actually seeing the world and other cultures (though it’s also definitely part of her personality as well)

Yeah we saw Roku had a more structured version of what we saw for Aang, where he travelled and made friends around the world as part of his training. Korra should have been even more similar to Roku but somehow the White Lotus went to extremes to protect her. There's a reason for it I guess, but we all know growing up in near-total isolation in her homeland can't be what Aang wanted, regardless of how well she was trained. I'm excited to see what Lindsay thinks of the rest of the season and series! :)

It might have been if you look at personal experience, an entire civilization was annihilated to get to him. Aang's decision makes a lot of sense if you look at it from his point of view and after what he went through he would have wanted a more normal, structured environment for the next Avatar to grow up in.

​@@MrMeddyman There's also more spoilery context that comes later, remember. Aang made some bad decisions at times but I don't think this was one of them. (At most, I'm sure he would have urged them to let her live a normal life for a longer time than he got to do, not knowing that she would jump at the chance to be Avatar from an early age.)

Carson if you and Lindsay are reading then make sure you turn off the subtitles. There's a surprise later in the seasons and you don't want the subtitles to ruin it like it did for most reactors to Korra.

Boruto mentioned! The show focuses on Boruto because at the start it’s peaceful so there is no need to focus on Naruto and after that, Boruto has the Karma so the focus is on him rightfully

Last time I tried to watch this I was in highschool, looking forward to finally watching past the first handful of episodes. I have actually seen the first threeish episodes of this show at least two if not three times, I always stopped watching for one reason or another. The animation is really really good so far, really expressive, didn't really recognize that sort of thing when I was younger. Also the fight/chase was really creative, like the action in the original show. I like the aesthetic of the city, played Lies of P recently and it has a similar type of semi steampunk design.

I see some of the Korra haters have already shown up. Stick with the show. It definitely has its ups and downs (particularly season 2), but there are still so many beautiful and interesting moments sprinkled throughout, not to mention the animation and music. It’s absolutely worth watching all the way through.

I agree with this. Sometimes, people even call her a Mary Sue, which I have to assume they only watched the first couple of episodes, or they don't know what that term means because Korra gets humbled pretty fast. And Def had some major losses. Season 2 is bad, I agree with that. But I don't think it should label the whole show as bad.

The legend of Korra is so good and I never understood the hate I got, it's another Boruto situation hatred just for not being Ang/Naruto 2.0 and I think that's what makes them amazing ...and the animation of both korra and boruto is superior to the original show.

I’m sure Anag had a reason for wanting the white lotus to guard Korra all her life like Korra looks at least 18 maybe. The books are very good I gotta re read them but while I loooove AOT I love how Legend of Korra just deals with an avatar being a bit older than Anag least in the next cycle cause Roku was around Korra’s before he was reincarnated. It’s very 1920 New York & cool to see Anag & Toph had families of their own

Korra is just the first season for me, I don't see anything to watch in the other seasons, it was already planned as a single season, it's a very rushed project, it could have been much better if more effort was put into it like the original series and enough budget was allocated. I hope they don't make Korra's mistakes in the new earthbender avatar series and we don't see additional seasons later.
